A Falling Out Among Friends (Gay Bush Fundraisers Now Hate Him)

March 8 issue - David Catania has been one of George W. Bush's most loyal supporters. The Washington, D.C., city councilman has raised nearly $80,000 for the president's re-election. He's a Bush delegate to this summer's GOP convention and holds a seat on the platform committee, which shapes the party's official agenda. But last week Catania, like many other gay Republicans, was furious at the president's backing of a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Now he's dropping his fund-raising efforts and no longer plans to vote for Bush. "You know the concept of buyer's remorse? I've got it," he says. "I want my money back." Now Catania intends to fight the amendment on the platform committee and work against a second Bush term.

After reading many of your post I find it very hard to believe that you would've ever voted for Bush in the 1st place. Nor do I believe that you're planning to vote for him anytime in the near future.

So I wish you'd stop posturing from your high horse.

I know desert sands don't product votes but Faith does and we are never to compromise.

Yes indeed. Tolerating an abomination is an affront to the laws of God and the natural order God has established.

We are facing serious problem of immorality degradation our true values and life as we know in husband and wife, true family is in danger. Liberals forget it takes two too procreate it is a nature law that God has created. We need to raise our voice as conservatives who believe in God and have virtues to stand up against this filth and liberal outsourcing or our moral believe and value of having family

source for your estimates please.

Regardless I seriously doubt the Log Cabiners make any part of the "moderate" 20% you refered to. They and the issues they represent are in no way moderate and only work to alienate the base. That's dumb as opposed to "stratergic."

They were never our friends. They were ravening wolves hiding amoungst the sheep. Perhaps they posess fiscal values ... even pseudo social values but when they attack the holy institution of marriage they reaveal themselves as the barbarians they are. Worse than barbarians. Devils.

The Pharisees said pretty much the same thing to Jesus when He forgave the adulteress.

Sorry Dubya but your BS pandering just got flushed down the toilet. No one on the left gives a &*&&%$ for your "new tone" or your "compassion." How's about you try courting the conservatives i.e. the people that voted for you in the first place!

Uh, that's what he did with the anti-Gay Marriage amendment.

Ha - there ya go - Procreating - Liberals can't stand folks doing all this procreating. There are to many people on the planet anyway - remember. And what's the byproduct of all this procreation? - kids, -- and they breath the air, eat meat, poop in plastic pampers that fill land fills and just plain make our tidy little picture perfect worlds messy, and who's got time for good old fashion nastiness when you are taking care of children. After we had our third child, you would of thought we had 20 the way people act, "oh my goodness, 3, heavens, that's absurd, how busy you must be, what where you thinking, are you out of your mind, do you have a life".

Afternoon Sink. Am more of the opinion that Bush didn't want this issue to come up before the election precisely because of his "outreach" efforts. He probably thought that verbal warnings in his SOTU address would be enough to stall the Left but he wasn't counting on their zealotry. The San Fran mayor forced his hand.

I am trying to remember where in the Old Test the story is about Saul, where he worries, I think about fighting the battle that God has asked him to fight, he is worried he does not have enough men, numbers!!

I believe that's in 1 Samuel 15. I could be wrong, but that's where I believe it is.

I think this is over the amendment. Even Kerry says he's against gay marriage. This proposal has fallen flat on its face. Georgia voted against it and nearly 50 senators are opposed to it. Even Housemembers are opposed to it. They want to wait until SCOTUS says it's necessary.

Jeez, can somebody say, "Drama Queen"

He probably gets nervous with such labels, clears his throat, and then scratches himself.

"The Pharisees said pretty much the same thing to Jesus when He forgave the adulteress."
And after forgiving the adultress, Jesus told her "go and sin no more," meaning "go and don't commit adultery again". He granted forgiveness for sin, not acceptance of sin. And neither should we.

Well, you ought to be happy, in any event.

As it is, it appears that the Marriage Amendment is DOA in the Congress anyway.

Pandering to the left will get you squat.

You're right, that's why Bush doesn't "pander" to the left at all he cater's to the middle, you know the fence sitters...

It's a different political arena, ya better recognize that!

Not really. Sad statement of our times that an amendment that defines marriage as between a man and a women is having trouble. Of course if this were a more rational era such a question wouldn't come up in the first place and Barney Frank would be a bartender in Proviencetown.
