A Falling Out Among Friends (Gay Bush Fundraisers Now Hate Him)

March 8 issue - David Catania has been one of George W. Bush's most loyal supporters. The Washington, D.C., city councilman has raised nearly $80,000 for the president's re-election. He's a Bush delegate to this summer's GOP convention and holds a seat on the platform committee, which shapes the party's official agenda. But last week Catania, like many other gay Republicans, was furious at the president's backing of a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage. Now he's dropping his fund-raising efforts and no longer plans to vote for Bush. "You know the concept of buyer's remorse? I've got it," he says. "I want my money back." Now Catania intends to fight the amendment on the platform committee and work against a second Bush term.

How interesting...the President remains consistent by wanting the people to decide how a society is structured: not the mayor of San Francisco or four Robed Jackasses in Taxachusetts, and all of a sudden the vaunted "Austin 12" have decided he is Evil Incarnate.

And leave up to the socialists at NewsWEAK to hunt 'em down and publicize their newfound hatred for the President.

Amazing how these people have the nerve to call themselves Republicans at one time. Why don't' these closet Democrats come out and admit it.

LOL! Sorry Dubya but your BS pandering just got flushed down the toilet. No one on the left gives a &*&&%$ for your "new tone" or your "compassion." How's about you try courting the conservatives i.e. the people that voted for you in the first place!

Well the president needs not a single popular vote in all of D.C., for he can never get the three electoral votes there anyway. A Bush voter in D.C. is really as useless as a dodo bird.

Queers are an abomination. Not being supported by an abomination is certainly a plus in any bid for a leadership role in a society composed of mostly rational people.

It seems most gay "former Bush supporters" are more mad about being singled out than just being forbidden from marrying.

I've never referred to the president as God. I know God, and G.W. Bush isn't Him. Heck, even W knows that. But you are pleased as punch to see him lose votes and chide him for his professionalism and compassion. You are one sick puppy, KB.

I am trying to remember where in the Old Test the story is about Saul, where he worries, I think about fighting the battle that God has asked him to fight, he is worried he does not have enough men, numbers!! God punishes him (big time) because of his lack of faith in God. Also I am reminded about God being able to raise an army up out of the dust of the desert. I know desert sands don't product votes but Faith does and we are never to compromise.

I would rather lose without the log cabin "republicans", than win with them.

Call them the Whaabulance.

If I'm pleased at all its being vindicated by the above article. Pandering to the left will get you squat. Those of us who never have had an affinity for cocaine know that. Bush gambled and lost. And then Rove wonders why millions of the religious stayed home on election night in 2000.

Your hatred for this president is palpable.

Perhaps the dislike that is perceivable by you is just that for the controllers of the presidential caricature

Here's a clue.

40% of the nation is liberal. 40% is conservative. You have have to "pander" to the right or the left in order to get a slim majority of the remaining 20% of moderate voters, and win the Presidency... unless of course, you have constituents who can be classified "pompous asses" that stay at home when their candidate doesn't conform to 100% of their personal agenda.

Nah, I've seen too many of his comments on FR to buy that one. But, I assume from his last comment, he intends to stay home....again. I should know better than to waste time on folks who don't vote, and then want to whine and wag their tongues.
