POSTED: 10:54 a.m. EST March 1, 2004 UPDATED: 11:02 a.m. EST March 1, 2004 SPRINGFIELD, Va. -- A motorist who had gotten out of his car to check out a flat tire died when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle and then dragged more than 8 miles, authorities said. Josuel Galdino, 25, a domestic worker for the Brazilian Embassy, was charged with manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run after calling police early Sunday to report a man's body was caught in his SUV's front-end suspension. Galdino is being arraigned Monday morning. His attorney says his client and a passenger with him at the time didn't realize the SUV had hit someone. He said they didn't know there was a body on the car until they got back home and it fell off. The incident happened early Sunday in Fairfax County, Va., on Interstate 95 southwest of Washington, D.C.

I saw a picture of the SUV in question last night on the news. IMO there is no way that the driver couldn't have known that he had hit something unless he was really impaired. The front of the hood on the driver's side had buckled and was sticking up several inches higher than it should have been.
