Out of wedlock Sex has a price...and it is one of the things destroying our youth and our nation.

Today during our church services we held a combined meeting of all of the adult men and women who were not involved teaching our primary aged (2-11) and youth aged (12-18) children. I wanted to report to FR about the meeting and the content and its impact. The meeting had been planned for some time to view the video"
"Sex has a price tag"
A lot of thought and prayer went into presenting this video and its content. We wanted the adult thoughts on this before we hold a meeting for all of the youth in our congregation.
The video is very direct and very plain and straight talking about the sexual revolution and its physical, emotional and spiritual impact on the youth in America...and on adults who practice sex out of wedlock. It is extremely well done and is delivered very professionally and very aptly in the video to a catholic high school assembly meeting by a Pam Stenzel. She uses appropriate humor, straight talk, statistics, clear logic and scriptural reference to reveal the truth about the rampant spread of over 30 STD's in our society today, many of which I had never heard of before, and their impact. She speaks very eloquently about the terrible emotional and mental impact of the consequences of these diseases both to those who contract them...and to any future partners or spouses they may have.
The presentation would not be allowed in public schools because of its religious message...but the overall message is one that every American adult, parent and child from the sixt grade up should hear.
Our congregation is of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but we very willing listened for an hour to a presentation by this good, moral and very talented Catholic woman as she presented the truth ahout the virtue of sex within marriage, and the abject dangers and rampant disease and risk associated with it outside of marriage.
I urge every Freeper to get a copy of this video or cassette and view it yourself...then show it to your entire family...then do all in your power to hold church and community meetings to show it to everyone you can.
The speaker talks of the media's willing efforts to hide and obscure the facts and only present their politcally correct and motivated message that is doooming hundreds of thousands of people, even millions (mainly youth) to misery and eventual death by not presenting all of the facts.
I am completely unaffiliated with the people producing the video, but know it is available in cassette and DVD format as well. I inted to buy one for each of my grown daughters (two married and one single) and send it to them urging them to watch it ASAP and teach the information to their own children (in the case of the married daughters) as soon as they are of age.
I intend to buy many cassettes and vidos and DVD's and to work here in Emmett, ID to have every church in our valley of every denomination look to having similar presentations...ultimately having them all come together for a community presentation to reach as many people and youth as possible.
Needless to say, I was very impressed by this timely and critical message, and despite whatever doctrinal differences my church and denominations have between themselves...this truth is universal and something most all of us can agree on and present for the benefit of all.

it is one of my hot-buttons, largely because one is not permitted to discuss it.

The difference between the homosexuals issue and other sexual sins, are that the adulterers, cohaibitors and fornicators are not asking the public to put their stamp of approval on their activities! They do not DEMAND that we "accept" their sin. They do not scream "vile, intolerant, hater!" when one calls what they do "sin". There are no calls to ban the sermons against adultery and fornication because they are "hate speech"....

She is refering to HPV and it needs to be remembered that HPV is the direct cause of more than 98% of all cervical cancers. I had a wonderful sister-in-law who died in 1992 from the ravages of lung cancer which had started as cervical cancer. She contracted the cervical cancer as a result of HPV which she realized she contracted because of her promiscuous behavior in high school and in the years following. She was adamant that her daughter realize the dangers of that kind of lifestyle.
Her marriage to my brother was her second one. We loved her dearly and miss her still. It is important that kids realize the dangers of what they think is just fun behavior.

This is very common. Sad to say that many of these "Christian" couples actually tell their counselors that "God brought them together" or "It must be God's will"....
Pastors often fall for members of their church. Trouble is, that they are so busy taking care of other people, that they neglect their relationship with Jesus Christ, and their relationship with their wives...leaving them open to temptation.
I am so sorry that your church is going through this. It is very hard.
I grew up in a church where 3 generations of my family had attended, with another family who had been there just as long. My father and uncle and Grandfather all sat on the board, and were deacons and ushers...they all held high positions. My Uncle had a long time affair with the Choir director, a member of the other family of third generation members. This affair ruined so many lives, and ripped the church in two. It rocked the faith of many, who had been brought into the church by these "wonderful Christians".

One doesn't have to be promiscuous. My dear sister's husband cheated on her regularly. He brought her home the "gifts" of Herpes and HPV. She also got cervical cancer from the HPV. She got hers early, and is okay.
I am sorry to hear about your sister in law. How sad.

They (adulterers, cohabitors, fornicators) do not DEMAND that we "accept" their sin. Thank goodness they don't. But we accept it anyway.
Television programs and the media portray living-together and pre-marital sex as "the norm." No one questions it.
There are no calls to ban the sermons against adultery and fornication because they are "hate speech."
What sermons? I have yet to attend a Christian service that condemns sexual sin of any kind. (Perhaps they don't want to be insensitive to the adulterers and fornicators in the congregation.)
Today's churches are more likely to speak out against the "evils" of big business or not caring for the environment, than suggest that their parishioners are in any way responsible for their own behaviour.
If some of them would take a stand (against sexual immorality), perhaps we wouldn't be in the mess we are in today.

As a school nurse, I showed James Dobson's video on dating and sex last year to my 6th graders. The parents who previewed it were in shock, but they insisted that I show their kids this video. I plan to get this one, too. This year I will ask all parents to come out for the video preview of both. We (my husband is the counselor) present to the kids about the medical as well as the emotional aspects of early sexual exploration. When we do this to the parents too, they always express how much they appreciate the information...especially the emotional aspect of it. Most complain of the devastating effect sex had on them while dating in HS, never realizing it (the baggage from all the painful experiences) would go with them into their married lives. Any effort to get the parents involved is tough, but usually when they realize the seriousness of it, they are more apt to be involved with their kids at an age that is probably the most important stage in their life.

Amen...and God bless you and your husband for your efforts in this regard. Would to God that we had more school personnel like the two of you...all over the world.
If we keep working at it...we shall.

A completely dysfunctional family where abuse exists as you describe it is no longer "intact". I believe, that in such cases, a woman (or a man) has the right to divorce themselves from the situation and seek something better...either through real help, repentence and change on the part of the abuser/batterer (which is not easy and takes a lot of time...if it occurs at all), or through actual divorce that may lead to another healthy maritial relationship.
I do not believe in "no-fault" divorce, and I believe that the "faults" should be fairly limited and fairly extreme...but infidelity and abuse as you describe it are certainly two of them..

In truth...most of what this woman presents is also "not allowed", or
verboten by today's PC agenda at all levels of government and society, and by actual law.
A very sad state of affairs, but one that it is far past time for us to combat and overcome.

Thanks, Jeff. Everyone here is doing great. Emily is smiling and cooing and gooing non-stop. And even though she's only three and half months old, I make sure to recite the alphabet and the pledge of allegiance to her at least once a day. (I'm not kidding, either.)
Prayers continue for your brother. Hope you and your family are doing well, too.

TV and movies also abound with homosexual sex as well!
You need to attend a different Church, if you aren't hearing admonitions against sin! If that is what you are looking for, then you need to join a "hate mongering", "intolerant", "backward", "woman hating", "Jimmy Carter insulting" Southern Baptist Church!

This is true but fatherlessness is not a result of sex ... rather it is a result of abdication of responsibility for the consequences of sex (as is abortion).
What we should be selling to kids ... and this has NEVER been done in the entire history of humankind ... is personal responsibility of BOTH parties to conception and their obligation to the person they have created. This is a novel concept, that if instilled in our youth (both boys and girls) and backed up in our laws ... would I believe have the effect intended by this film.
If we're going to use a "Scared Straight" approach to deterrence for kids ... let's use one that we intend to back up with LAW ... making biological parents (that's parentS plural) legally responsible for the children they create.
To: Monty22
Oh please. And who are all these "sub 18 year old" sex maniacs having sex with? Martians?
To: Lorianne
This is a novel concept Not really novel at all, you see, IMHO, God has been teaching it for thousands of years.
To: Jeff Head
I have had sex without benefit of marriage. I consider it to have been beneficial to myself as well as my partners. I don't believe that I had any part in destroying our youth or our nation. I have no problem with people encouraging minors to abstain - however, when they becaome adults, they are capable of making informed decisions on their own.

You are free to do as you please. I feel that such behavior is immoral and irresponsible.
In addition...based on the information available regarding STD's...it is also dangerous.
Given the dangers...you would be best advised (but certainly not required) to check out the information included in this presentation, whether you believe in the moral/spiritual side or not. Such behavior endangers yourself and those with whom you practice sex.
I do not believe this is an accident. In my faith, God in Heaven was certainly aware of all of this when He devised our lives and relationships as He did.
But, He has also given us all our free agency/free will and we are free to do as we please. Our actions however do not free us of the consequences associated with those actions. The consequences of rampant promiscuity are becoming more and more patently obvious in terms of their health impact.
