For the GOP: Rauschenberger (Chicago Tribune Endorsement)

The campaign for the U.S. Senate has been dominated by big-spenders, at least if you use the TV ads and the polls as a guide.
For those who are mesmerized by fat campaign bank accounts, it should be remembered that just two years ago in a Republican primary for the U.S. Senate, little-known and lightly funded Jim Durkin defeated two opponents who vastly outspent him.
Can that happen again?
If it does, Republican Party voters will have cast aside the television blitz to find the one candidate who has a long and unmatched public record of independence and effectiveness. That is state Sen. Steven Rauschenberger, who is endorsed today by the Tribune.
... snip ...
... we have watched him for 11 years since he came to the Illinois Senate, and it has been an absolutely exceptional performance.
... snip ...
In this primary field Rauschenberger brings by far the greatest experience and the greatest depth of thought on national issues. He would deliver the kind of creative leadership and integrity that Illinois has enjoyed from U.S. Rep. Henry Hyde, who has endorsed Rauschenberger.
... snip...
Voters, though, don't have to guess about Steve Rauschenberger. He has served them with unquestioned integrity and intelligence for more than a decade. He has done the job, and he has earned their support on March 16.

Looked on my profile page for ammunition? LOL.
When you start a flame war, expect return fire.
It's a slow morning, but you're right, sparring with dopes is boring.

You hit the nail on the head.
From her campaign website.
Referring to a story released today by the New York Times, in which Democratic National Committee chairman Terry McAuliffe harshly attacks Bush for being AWOL in his National Guard duties during the Vietnam War, Skinner points out that she questioned the Bush military record early and often during the 2000 presidential campaign.
Her slogan should be "Nancy Skinner, Wrong Early, Wrong Often."

Hey there!
Can't we count on you two as votes for Rauschy. I can't say he's better looking than Nancy Skinner, but then neither am I.

What's the Rauschy-meter reading up there in Lake County?
RKBA HAS NO BETTER FRIEND on the ballot!!!!!Never heard of him 'till "youse giys" started talking him up.
I was starting to warm a bit inasmuch as he supports CCW until I read "...and can demonstrate a need,".
Hmmmmmm. Of course, who knows where any of the other guys really stand on anything.
I'll have to study up on him a bit more.

Hmmmmmm. Of course, who knows where any of the other guys really stand on anything. You got that right. As far as I know Rauschy is the only one to support CCW in any way shape or form, except perhaps for Kathuria who's not going anywhere.

Illinois Leader to endorse RAUSCHENBERGER!!! Jack Ryan's torch snuffed out today. Rauschy's endorsement to appear in tomorrow's edition.
As those of you who follow the Illinois Leader, the conservative outlet for Illinois political news, already know, they have been doing their US GOP Senate Endorsement "suvivor style". The elephant tribe snuffs the torch of a candidate every few days and votes him off the island. Over the weekend, the only two remaining were Jack! and Rauschenberger. Today Ryan's torch was snuffed, leaving only Steve left standing!
This clearly demonstrates The Leader's impartial objectivity especially when you consider Leader Media is owned by Dan Proft, a paid consultant to the Ryan campaign.
You might want to drop Fran Eaton, Managing Editor of The Illinois Leader, an email of thanks: Fran@Illinoisleader.com
Read the Ryan snuff piece here.

Ooooh, I live on 95th Street, that's probably only about three miles from my house. You've given me an idea. I can catch a ride there from Dr. K's campaign staff and then head home from the event. ;-)
Hey, I like Rauschy, briefly considered jumping ship to the Rauschy camp, but going from a candidate polling at 2% to one that's polling 4% doesn't convince me he's more "electable". Anyway, his staff "forgot" to email me back after I showed up at his campaign office and expressed my interest. They could have at least said "we need volunteer help here..." :-D
That being said, I hope the revelations about Andy "Combine" McKenna and Jim "Taliban" Oberweis will cause Rauschy to leap frog them in the polls. If Jack doesn't win, I'd sure perfer Rauschy over those two.
And if he doesn't win this time...Rauschy for Treasurer in '06!

Hey, most cats I know are smarter than the RAT voters Daley leads around. Don't disenfranchise the housepet vote!!!!
Seriously though haven't these newspaper endorsements been like the Kiss of Death of late? Any endorsement by the Tribune makes me think twice about voting for the candidate endorsed.
Still thinking about voting RAT primary for Osama I mean Obama since either Ryan or Raus... could beat him.

Al is too out of it to cause much confusion in the RAT primary so it might have to be one with more potential for trouble like Edwards.
I would be willing to climb out of my coffin to vote for Bush in November no worry about that. I am concerned that Hynes will be the RAT nominee and he will be hard to beat.
Looks like they have given the shiv to Hull so Obama better look out he will be next.

And if he doesn't win this time...Rauschy for Treasurer in '06! Doubtful. What a nothing job. Even JBT can do it. If I were him I'd move a couple miles east and go after Phil Crane's seat. I hear this is Phil's last run.
