D.C. CHAPTER SPRING '04 ACTIVISM CALENDAR
D.C. Chapter ^ | Saturday, February 28, 2004 | Kristinn

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us in our nation's capital this Spring for another season of conservative street activism.

We've pretty much taken a break for the past few months. Our batteries are recharged and there's work to be done. Please make the effort to join us at these events. It's fun, exhilarating and it beats sitting at home screaming at the TV and pounding on your keyboard.

Saturday March 13, Noon to 3 p.m. The Blue Star Mothers of America's Support Our Troops Rally, Washington, D.C., on the Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets, NW.

With the one-year anniversary of the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom approaching, the Blue Star Mothers of America are holding a rally to send a message of support to our troops serving overseas in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere in the continuing war against terrorists and their nation-state supporters. The anti-American left will be staging national and worldwide protests the following Saturday, March 20, to undermine our resolve and encourage our enemies. It is imperative that our troops see and hear public support from those of us who appreciate their sacrifice and service.

Monday, March 15, 8 a.m. to late afternoon. Patriotic counter-demonstration of the leftist front group Military Families Speak Out, which will be staging a mock funeral procession in Washington, D.C. This is the second and final leg of a macabre propaganda effort that will start on Sunday, March 14 at Dover Air Force Base to "honor" those killed in action in Iraq.

The D.C. leg of the funeral procession is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Monday in front of Walter Reed Army Medical Center where many of our wounded service members are recuperating from their injuries. From there the leftists will proceed slowly to the White House (with arrival scheduled for 2 p.m.) where they plan acts of civil disobedience.

This blood dance is co-sponsored by the usual suspects including Medea Benjamin's Code Pink and Leslie Cagan's United for Peace and Justice. They do not care about America's dead and wounded soldiers, except for how they can exploit them and their families to sap morale in order to bring about our defeat.

Please take the day off from work and join us as we stand up to these ghouls. Details of our action will be announced soon.

Saturday, March 20. Road trip to Fayetteville, N.C. With A.N.S.W.E.R. having chickened out of D.C. and retreated to N.Y.C. in the face of unrelenting opposition from FReepers, members of the D.C. Chapter will be hitting the road to stand with the North Carolina Chapter at a counter-demonstration to an "anti-war" march near Fort Bragg.

Saturday, April 24. The Marxists will be staging their annual protest against capitalism at the IMF meetings. We'll be out there counter-demonstrating in favor of free enterprise and private property rights. Details to be announced in April.

Sunday, April 25. The D.C. Chapter has signed up to be a participant in and co-sponsor of Operation Witness, a pro-life counter demonstration of the "pro-choice" march in D.C. that day.

Saturday, May 1, 4 p.m. to 8: 30 p.m. The D.C. Chapter's Sixth Annual Freep of the White House Correspondents Association Dinner. Location: Outside the Washington Hilton, Connecticut Avenue and T Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.

Our most fun protest every year. This is your chance to tell the mainstream media to their faces what you think about their biased reporting. You'll also be able to meet and thank those reporters who do their job like it should be done.

This is what we've got on our schedule so far. I'm sure there'll be more to do along the way.

Please note, at all protests organized by the D.C. Chapter our rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
