"Now having played a hand they did not need to, those opposed to gay marriage have lost the issue."
My thoughts exactly, conservatives have played right into the democrats hand, which incidentally is being well orchestrated.

No it is not lost. It is only lost where power is usurped. Once the rule of law is restored in California there will be no marriages. The question is, who will restore it and how long will it take? In MA you have a bigger issue. But no way is it lost.

Very accurate posting, which needs to be read by many. Your name is well-chosen.

I've never understood the "undermine the institution of marriage" argument. with divorce rates around 50%, there ain't much left to undermine.
these people love each other like any other couple.. I say, if they really want to get married, then whatever...

PS. I know Bush doesn't appoing CA or other state judges -- but there are lots of liberal, activist judges in the Federal court too, like the ones in the 9th Circus.
Aren't these the same judges Bush could have fired when he came into office just like Clinton did?

CYA. Pretty funny considering the context.

Sorry to report that it's not just California that is in need of redemption. This is friggin' insane. We're turning our country's control over to a few black robed dictators.
Judges is without question the first reason conservatives must win big in November. Please steal my tagline or morph one. Libs are doing a good job of making our point.

I expecn we're going to see a lot more of this style of play
Liberal judges covering for liberal lawbreakers and conservatives threatening cumbersome amendments to stop them.
If that happens we are in big trouble.
I'd rather see us beat them at their own game. Example urge all white kids to put down black or latino on their college entrance apps. (as another Freeper said) Have conservative teachers out up ten commandments in their classrooms etc.

You know, its not the fact that gay marriage is (or is not) becoming an inevitability. Its the way in which its being shoved down our throats. We no longer have government for the people. We now have government by four people. I don't like the fact the a handful of people, most of whom are not elected, are now dictating the law for us.
"They came to eradicate religion in the public square, but I am not religious, and so I did nothing.
They came to impose gay marriage, but I don't care and so I did nothing.
They came to confiscate my weapons, but I don't own weapons, and so I did nothing.
They came to tell me where to live, what kind of work I must do, and how many children I must have. They told me that if I had too many children I must kill enough of them to get down to my quota (don't worry, they said, we will harvest their stem cells so this will be good for society). I opposed this bitterly, but no one else cared, and so they did nothing."

THIS is another very important reason to re-elect George Bush, and sends lot of Republicans to Congress, so he can appoint conservative judges, who follow the law. There you go again. THE MAJORITY OF JUDGES ON THE CALIFORNIA SUPREME COURT WERE APPOINTED BY REPUBLICANS, notably Pete Wilson, a RINO, elected because "he can win." Pray tell, what difference does electing "moderate Republicans" make if the outcome is just as bad or worse than if we had Democrats who would otherwise sink the system and then be replaced? Frist hasn't done diddly squat to get those conservative judges confirmed.
Given all that, and seeing as you are so fond of RINOs and you supported electing a governor who is EVEN FURTHER TO THE LEFT THAN WILSON, isn't it a little hypocritical to say that electing RINOs would correct this situation? What has Arnold done to stop this? He could have done it in the first few days you know. So Arnold says all the right words and then hands it to Lockyer and this is what we get. Don't believe what they say, watch what they DO.
Perhaps you now understand why your comment should be restated:
THIS is another very important reason to elect CONSERVATIVES, so that they can appoint and confirm CONSERVATIVE judges, who follow the law. Repent, while you still can. Support Kaloogian. Jones will be destroyed in the general election in part because of his dealings in the Westlands Water District. Boxer will have a field day with that record, particularly with all the environmental damage the grossly subsidized irrigation has caused and the hundreds of millions in corporate welfare those farmers have enjoyed, including Bill Jones.

Thank you. Not everyone thinks so. Some people think that pointing out the facts and the obvious truth is just really not fair. ;)
I think people should wake up and focus on the important issues: War on Terror and judges. All other issues pale into insignificance. God help us, with Kerry as president!
Jim Robinson summed it up in a succinct, excellent essay:
What Bush vs Kerry is really all about

Forget the current hullabaloo regarding the thirty some odd year old service records of the two candidates and all the other hysterical, hypocritical, hyperbolic horse hockey being raised by the Democrats and their operatives. Here's the commonsense bottom line of what the coming election is about:
Either we re-elect President Bush or we allow President Kerry and the Democrats to surrender our national sovereignty, our national security and our national defense to the United Nations and other so-called world government bodies. The Democrats do not believe that war is sometimes necessary to defend the nation and or our national interests. The Democrats do not believe that the United States has the right to self-defense. The Democrats do not care about our national security or defending our national sovereignty. It's not in their game plan. In fact their game plan includes acquiescing to the United Nations, a world court and a world government. There's absolutely no doubt about it. It's in the record.
Either we re-elect President Bush or we allow President Kerry and the Democrats to increase our taxes and continue increasing our taxes until they totally destroy our economy and our ability to compete in world markets. Bush is a sworn tax cutter. Kerry is a sworn tax raiser. No doubt about it. It's in the record.
Either we re-elect President Bush or we allow President Kerry and the Democrats to kiss off our traditional man/woman marriage and from this point on it'll be anything goes. Bush defends traditional family values and a moral society. Kerry promotes the feminist/abortionist/homosexualist agenda, no matter how absurd, perverse, abhorrent or evil. No doubt about it. It's in the record.
Either we re-elect President Bush or we allow President Kerry and the Democrats to appoint and confirm nothing but NOW/NAMBLA/Globalist approved feminist/abortionist/homosexualist liberal activist judges. Bush will appoint judges who will abide by the Constitution. Kerry and the Democrats will appoint and confirm only liberal activist judges. Allow this and we can kiss our Constitution and what's left of our national sovereignty and freedom goodbye. No doubt about it. It's in the record. Period. End of story.

Why people continue to insist that CA has a whacked out liberal Supreme Court is quite beyond my comprehension. It hasn't been that way since Rose Bird was given the boot in 1986.
