Howard Stern (search)has a message for Clear Channel Radio, which suspended the shock jock over an interview with Paris Hilton's ex-boyfriend: radio executives are just scared.
"They are so afraid of me and what this show represents,"Stern said Thursday during his popular radio program, which is still airing in many cities.

I thought it said Steyn and almost read it, luckily I saw it said Stern before waisting my time.

Howie, it's not fear, it's nausea...

Funny, that's what I thought people were saying about your show.

I actually like Howard, but ya know what, they are 'public' airways. There are rules, ya breaks em, see ya. He should take his act to XM radio or something.

It's not a "free speech" issue. Howard Stern's program costs a fortune to broadcast and Clear Channel foots the bill. In the past, they thought that the ad revenue was worth the controversy, now they are having second thoughts.
If Howard Stern wants to stand out on Main Street and spew profanity, that's his right. He has no right to keep thumbing his nose at his employer and make a radio program a "free speech" issue.

Wake up Howard,
NOBODY's afraid of you. They're just tired of paying you good money for being a jerk with a potty mouth.
My boss would fire me too.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Why is it whenever I find something distasteful, immoral, or just plain stupid, someone declares I'm afraid of it?
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Nobody's scared of you Howard, they're just sick of you.

"They are so afraid of me and what this show represents,"... Uhhh, okay.
Just what does the show represent?
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Strike the word "afraid" and replace with "sick".

Heh - actually, I was thinking of asking the same thing. I have absolutely no idea what Howard Stern's show is supposed to represent.
Someone on another board told me it was that he was so -honest-. It's the "no worse crime than hypocrisy" crowd. They despise anyone who acts with manners or class because they're convinced that it means that they're not telling you what they really think. See, -their- mind is in the gutter 99.9% of the time, so they assume that yours has to be too.

Howard Stern is one of the funniest guys on radio... yes there's a lot he does that is in bad taste, but it's far less offensive overall than your average MTV production.
Guess I'm all alone here in the no-freedom-not-to-be-offended crowd. It's not at all similar to the Janet Jackson incident - you don't turn on Stern unless you want to hear raw language, nobody is blindsided by his obscenities.

It's not fear. It's disgust, Howard.
Is society finally getting appalled at the in-your-face filth and denigration of women that is so popular these days? I doubt it. Like any addict who needs more and more stimulation to thrive, the envelope has not been pushed enough. Stern's attitude (along with his fans) towards women is sickening to me. It's not a healthy appreciation of the feminine form with an understanding of positive womanly attributes that enhance and stabilize society.
To Stern, a woman is not a daughter, wife or mother. A female to him is this: "she better be a hot, young piece of meat to satisfy me or else she's nothin but a loser." His ex-wife was right to divorce the guy. What a selfish, sick and shallow person. Howard will never, ever know the meaning of love and true sensuality unless his adolescent gutter mindset changes.
Clear Channel better not buy the "witch hunt" ploy and hire the jerk back. Let other conglomerates support Stern's outlook on life. There should be media outlets with some self-imposed sense of decency.
