D.C. Chapter Hillary Freep Report 2/25/04

Her Heinous, Hillary! was scheduled to give a speech this morning at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. The topic was her November trip to Iraq and Afghanistan and her positions on the war on terror and weapons of mass destruction.
I was first to arrive, at 8 a.m. Her speech was set for 8:45. As I was waiting for Angelwood and whoever else was going to be there, Hillary pulled up in front of the Brookings Institution at 8:05. She was early for once!
I hadn't taken any signs out. I was just standing there on the sidewalk by myself. So I didn't say anything to her because I didn't feel like being singled out for attention by her detail.
Angelwood and leadpenny showed up about ten minutes later, so we picked up our signs and had some fun for thirty minutes with people going in to watch the speech and with passersby.
The saying goes it's not a successful freep unless you get flipped off by a liberal. Well, we didn't get flipped off, but we're called profane names and told repeatedly to get a life, etc.
The press ignored us, save for an Asian TV film crew who shot some footage of us before they went inside. The Washington Post's E.J. Dionne showed up right before the speech. He's short. Michael Isikoff short. Not that it means anything, but it was surprising.
Some of our signs were: Clintons (heart) Terrorists; Clinton/Gore Pardoned Terrorists, George W. Bush Kills Them; a Lying History book cover spoof; and the parody image of Pres. Bush serving the Hillary turkey on a platter to the troops in Baghdad.
We did get a few words of encouragement, of course. One man who dropped people off for the speech called out to us as he pulled away, "I agree. She's evil!"
We left at 9 a.m. We have real jobs to go to.
