Do you know what LGBT is? It stands for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender. It is also an acronym used to describe the community of people living alternative lifestyles. I get a lot of emails on my law school email account with the subject LGBT. These messages usually announce some sort of event surrounding LGBT legal issues. When I first started getting these emails I wondered when the gay rights movement became bisexual rights movement and transgender rights movement. The more I looked into this I saw that on almost every issue Gays and Lesbians were hitching their wagon to Bisexuals and Transgenders.
I guess they feel there is strength in numbers. I Googled LGBT and came up with an LGBT community center in every major city and a similar resource on 100s of college campuses. I found a blanket organization of College LGBT groups called National Consortium of Directors of LGBT Resources in Higher Education. There are even organizations that can help a member of the LGBT world find a doctor sensitive to the LGBT lifestyle. Not surprisingly I also found LGBT political web sites all over the net.
My own Law School has an LGBT group. This is their description on the Student Organizations of the schools web site: LAMBDA Law Students Organization. The purposes of LAMBDA include: (1) to promote visibility for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students at Pace Law School, (2) to serve as a forum to discuss areas of the law that affect the LGBT community, (3) to foster diversity and understanding in the Pace Law School community for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, and (4) to serve as a vehicle to increase networking opportunities for LGBT Pace Law School student to help overcome the barriers that LGBT job applicants typically encounter. Clearly, politics make strange bedfellows. Pun intended.
Gay rights advocates in Massachusetts are claiming that the states Constitution written more than two centuries ago demands that Gays and Lesbians be allowed to marry. A similar event is unfolding 3,000 miles away in San Francisco. The mayor of that city is flipping the bird at Californias voters and of course the law by ignoring a referendum that was approved by 2/3s of the states voters defining marriage as a union of man and woman.
With the furor over the issue, gay and lesbian advocates have conveniently dropped the bisexual and transgender part of their movements moniker. Why have they done this? The answer is simple. Including bisexuals in the cry for equal marriage rights begs the question; if bisexuals are to get equal rights dont we have to allow three way marriages? The next questions would be, what exactly is a transgender person and how does a transgender person equally enjoy the right marry? This set of questions exposes the gay rights movement as an extreme fringe organization that has been cross-dressing as mainstream.
In Massachusetts and San Francisco the LGBT crowd is demanding that marriage be expanded to same sex couples because consenting gay adults deserve the same rights as consenting straight adults. Under this thinking consenting bisexual adults deserve the same rights as their gay and straight counterparts. Marriage between three people has to be granted to protect the equal rights of bisexuals. Dont they as consenting adults have an equal right to be joined in holy matrimony with the people they love?
LGBT operatives have dropped the BT for a reason. Supermajorities across the nation already object to same sex marriage. Admitting that equal rights to marriage would permit three or more people to marry obliterates what little credibility the LGBT movement has in mainstream America. Its difficult to claim that changing the definition of marriage to include not only same sex couples but multiple person couples will have no affect on the institution of marriage. Lesbians and gays are having no problem keeping bisexuals & transgenders silent about their equality because they know that if the nation condones same sex marriage it will be forced to swallow multiple person marriage. In fact, the bisexuals and transgender crowd will be granted the right to marry without so much as a runaway state court like the one in Massachusetts or a law breaking mayor like the one in San Francisco.

Transsexuals in most states can have their birth cer. and drive lience legally changed to the opposite sex, meaing the state legally recognizes them as the opposite sex. And what happens when a post-sex-change transexaul wants to get married to someone of their current opposite sex; for example some would say a post-sex-change male-to-female TS cannot get married to man because they were born with male genatila themselves, even though currently from a genatila and relationship standpoint, it is a hetrosexaul relationship.
But then others would say a post-sex-change male-to-female TS cannot get married to women because from a genatila and relationship standpoint, it is a lesbian relationship.
Those of you who want to ban marriage, in these cases, you cannot have it both ways.
And then their are those born with genatila traits from both male and female gender. What is your answer on that one? (sarcasm start) Ban them from getting married at all.
And you're doing a fine job.
Thanks for your service, soldier.
