'My Daddy Sold Me for Crack'
Albuquerque Journal | Tuesday, February 24, 2004 | Katie Burford

Posted on 02/24/2004 11:08:39 AM PST by woofie

A 35-year-old man is charged with child prostitution and kidnapping after his 15-year-old daughter told police he sold her for crack.

The man was arrested Saturday after the girl's mother reported the kidnapping to police. The Journal is withholding his name to protect the teen's privacy.

Police on Monday called the crime "despicable" and "heinous."

"It's a horrible thing that any parent would even consider putting their children in a position such as this," Albuquerque Police spokesman Jeff Arbogast said.

The girl told police she was walking home from a friend's house late Thursday when a car and a truck pulled up behind her. First her father got out of the truck, hugged her and said, "I love you." A large man then got out of the car and grabbed her.

"She tried to break free from the male by scratching and kicking him, but she was not able to get away," a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court states.

They put her in the back of the car, and she said she saw her father walk up to a "skinny" man, who handed him a small packet.

"My daddy sold me for crack" the teen told police. The two men then drove off with her in the back, leaving her father. She told police she tried the doors but couldn't unlock them. She also tried to call her mother by cell phone, but one of the men took her phone.

They drove her to a parking lot, where she said she was sexually assaulted by both men.

"She tried to get away from both males, but in order to control her they would hit her in the face and head," the complaint reads.

At one point, she was knocked unconscious. When she woke up, she was lying behind a garbage bin with her shirt off and jacket torn, the complaint reads. Still dazed, she walked toward her home where she made contact with a neighbor, who got in touch with the teen's mother. Her mother called police.

The girl, whose face was swollen, agreed to a medical exam. Investigators noted the word "bitch" was written on both of her arms. The complaint did not give further details.

Police spokesman Arbogast said Monday that detectives had worked through the weekend on the case and were following any leads that might identify the two men.

He said he'd known of many cases in which parents had acted irresponsibly toward their children. But this one, he said, is particularly appalling "with not only the physical damage that they exposed their child to, (but) the psychological impact that something like this would have for years to come, if not their entire life."

The girl's father is charged with sexual exploitation of children by prostitution, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.

He remained in the Metropolitan Detention Center on Monday. Bond is set at $200,000 cash or surety.

Imagine how this story would read if libertarians ruled:

Legalize drugs.
Legalize prostitution.
Legal age of consent is voided.
No gov't intervention in any activity.
No Judeo-Christian moral absolutes.

I think prostitution is legal in nevada and proceeds in a business like manner and does not seem to be that bad.

Drugs however do alter the human mind and overwhelm the normal human emotional and moral state.

Prostitution is mind altering to a lesser degree and is a commercialization of a normal non commercial human activity which can not be said about mind altering drugs.

The writing of the B-word on both the arms got my B.S. meter raised a little bit. Sure, sick people have done stuff like that. But it reminds me of Tawana Brawley painting epithets on herself. It just sounds a little overdone.

The story may very well be true. But I'm going to wait for more details before denouncing this guy.

Now if her story is true, then her father is scum. No argument there.

Consent of the girl was never obtained (not to mention that I favor there being an age of consent and protection of rights is a legitimate role of government, IMO).

No, but I would sure donate to bubba's legal defense if the Father died from rectal bleeding after being gang raped while serving his time.

IMO S.O.B. like this have no right to live and spounge off MY tax dollars for the next 50 years while serving a life sentence behind bars! Put him in general population and let the Sodomites at him.

I'm sure this pathetic jerk would rather blame the drugs than himself also.

Inanimate objects don't sell children for drugs, irresponsible creeps do.

I am inclined to wonder about that, too. Maybe it happened just as she says..Or maybe her face is swollen because her daddy smacked her, and this is payback. Yes, children, at least disturbed ones, can tell lies like that. If it IS true, hang him and the 2 perps, but I'll wait for more info too.

In case I missed anyone pointing out the obvious... so are guns! Every time I hear an prohibition argument I mentally replace the word "drugs" with "guns", and it sounds like something I would expect out of a DNC press release.

Imagine how this story would read if libertarians ruled: Legalize drugs. Legalize prostitution. Legal age of consent is voided. No gov't intervention in any activity. No Judeo-Christian moral absolutes.

Please get your facts straight before you make an ill-informed flame.

First off, if drugs were legal, the father would not have needed to prostitute his daughter to buy them. The drugs would be readily available and cheap.

Secondly, Legalize prostitition has no bearing on this. This girl was FORCED (ie. raped) and was not an adult. Which leads to point #3.

I'm unaware of any Libertarian who wants to see children sexually abused. This is just a flat out lie, intended so smear and degrade those who do not think as you do. A little knowlege about Libertarians may be benefitial to you. You apparently have a woefully poor information source on them. I'm also unaware of Libertarians who would give whiskey to 4 year olds. The bottom line is that mankind has for thousands of years managed to live their lives without the gov't dictating what you can eat, drink, smoke, chew; and how old you must be before you partake in these things. Libertarians want to take responsibility for themselves, not shirk responsibility by placing the burden on a gov't agency.

Get Gov't out of our lives is a mantra of just about all Republicans and Libertarians. This does not mean we are against police forces, medical services, roads, sewage, power and defense. Again, a little common sense and courtesy is expected.

What this monster did is inexcuseable, and I doubt you'll find any Republican, Conservative, Libertarian or any 'normal' person who would defend this type of behavior. By the same token, I doubt anyone else would accuse another group of defending this behavior without some basis.

Red flag here too. There are some heinous people out there who'd like to frame other people for their own benefit.
