For those of you keeping score, the dispute between Virginia and Minnesota over who gets a Civil War flag captured at Gettysburg has now lasted six years.

The Civil War lasted four.

Virginia's attempt to get back the flag with Confederate bars and stripes continued last week. Sen. George Allen, R-Va., and Rep. Robert W. Goodlatte, R-6th, complained to the feds again - and this time Virginia Attorney General Jerry W. Kilgore joined them.

Why is it that northern leftists/socialists think they can just ignore federal laws? Is it because they've been getting away with it for so long?

Them freakin' Gophers have our flag, fellas! Time to "Rally 'Round the Virginians" and demand that Minnesota abide by federal law and return the 28th Virginia Infantry's battle flag...

Stolen battle flag ping! Minnesota is violating federal law by not returning the 28th Virginia Infantry's battle flag. Laws established in 1814 and 1905 apply but are ignored by socialist Gophers!

With your interest in Civil War-related issues, you all may enjoy this...basically, the state of Minnesota is violating established federal law by not returning the 28th Virginia Infantry's battle flag captured at Gettysburg.

Thank you for posting that picture. I'm not yet HTML'ed sufficiently for pictures. I can do most other things, but haven't hit the sandbox hard enough for that yet...

I guess some of it seeped out to New Jersey during the Torricelli-removal scam in '02!

Go get 'em Virginia!

It's amazing enough that Ventura even knows which side won the Civil War. I had several friends from Wisconsin and other northern states in college, and they told me that they were kind of surprised at how much time was devoted to studying the Civil War in our history courses. Not surprisingly the college I went to was in Tennessee. They said up in their northern high schools they'd spend a week or two on the War and then be done with it. We spent nearly a month in our courses! I went further in educating one of them by taking her to a Civil War reenactment in Alabama. I managed to teach her a little of why Southerners still care about that war.

The flag might be safer in Minnesota as a war trophy, Virgina might elect a liberal black power Governor who will burn all racist symbols no matter the historical value.

Shoot I suspect that some of the leftists here in Missouri would dig up the graves of the confederates at the State Confederate Grave-site because it is on state land.

It is unseemly for the vanquished to be sniveling so, but the law is the law.

Nobody's sniveling. Virginia is simply requesting another state to obey federal law and return her property. Two federal laws apply to this situation and bolster the Old Dominion's case; Minnesota has nothing legal on its side.

Why is it that Federal Law allows Virginia to get their battle flag returned and it's against Federal law for me to wear a tee shirt with the same flag??

Actually, the fascist/socialist Minnesotans would probably be quicker to do something barbaric like that. No black power candidate would be elected here in Virginia; even Douglas Wilder was not a radical in that sense. Besides, the flag will be turned over to a U.S. military museum at Fort Belvoir, which is very close to Mount Vernon and Gunston Hall, and just a few miles outside of Washington, D.C., so the Gophers could visit the flag on their vacations when they come to see where America began!

Sorry, it's not stolen property, it's a prize of war. The Minnesota troops took it in battle from an enemy.

Quit crying about the flag...you aren't getting it back. Since it took only a few barefoot Minnesotans to take it, you better plan on sending a LARGE army if you think you're gonna get it back.

And if you people keep calling everyone who lives up here "socialists" and "liberals"...we might have to assemble another barefoot army to come down there and take some more flags.
