Many of the posters there discuss military threats- particularly threats from the former Soviet Union. For example, during the Russian exercise several missiles failed. They question whether the missiles were, in fact, set up to fail- so as to deceive us into thinking Russia is weak. They have some really interesting issues to discuss.

Ukraine holds 'uranium smuggler'

Ukraine received help from EU and US to help guard its borders

A man has been arrested by border guards in western Ukraine on suspicion of trying to smuggle radioactive material into Hungary.

Ukrainian daily Segodnya, quoting unofficial sources, said the man was a former Soviet intelligence officer.

Amazing. Given the amount of attacks after other videos/audios were released, there were none after these.

That's at least 6 attacks that were stopped, and probably more than that, considering for the other communications there were 2 to 3 after many of them.

When I look at the December dates I get the distinct impression of this:

The smaller attacks in Iraq that were probably linked to Voice of Jihad may not be in the matrix. But with the Bin Laden, then Zawahiri, then Bin Laden messages I get the distinct feeling they may have been trying to initiate the same attack, not different ones.

Just my guess, of course. But I think it's reasonable

Feb 25 2004 10:05PM Attempt to smuggle nuclear material out of Ukraine foiled KYIV. Feb 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Ukraine has arrested a minibus driver who was trying the smuggle a container of plutonium 239, cesium 137 and uranium to Hungary, Interior Minister Mykhailo Manin said on Wednesday.

The smuggler was "a former intelligence agent: in the former Soviet Union, he served in the Chief Intelligence Administration [the armed forces intelligence arm]," Manin told Interfax.

The freighter The Margot of Panama about 8 miles off the South Florida coast Wednesday afternoon.

Coast Guard investigates freighter off Key Biscayne that may be carrying Haitian migrants

The U.S. Coast Guard on Wednesday afternoon intercepted a 199-foot freighter off Key Biscayne apparently carrying Haitian migrants trying to reach the United States.

Coast Guard and Customs boats were headed toward the freighter, the Margot of Panama, located about eight miles off Government Cut.

Does everyone know a person with a ham radio? We have ham operators here in our community that participate in our emergency ops plan. Maybe we could set something up with a relay in case of internet or electrical problems. We could have their numbers posted for contact in case of an emegency.
