February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Same old stuff going on - which I suppose is good news. Talk TV this AM dissed the possibility of Bill Clinton as VP with Kerry (barf alert) - they said he was much too BIG for that. GWB and Vincente allowing no fingerprints or extra steps for Mexicans who come into the US on a constant basis - toehold into his proposed immigration policy. Attack on our area in Baghdad - everyone was in the basement and there were no reported injuries (angels overhead). Welcome back today. Bioterrorism seems to be the topic of the day. Have fun catching up!

Have you noticed any glaring discrepancies between your version and the FBIS version?

I wonder which of the germs has that incubation period.

Here's a rundown of incubation periods that I could locate from various sources on the internet:

Mustard Gas - No antidote - must deontaminate

Tabun,Soman,Sarin,VX - Minutes

Smallpox - 10 - 12 Days

Anthrax - 1 - 5 Days

Botulism - 12 - 72 hours

Plague - 1 - 3 Days

Marburg - Ebola - 2 -21 Days

Cholera - 12 hours - 6 Days

Tularemia - 1 - 10 Days

Q-Fever - 12 - 26 Days

Venezuelan Equine Encephalomyelitis - 1- 6 Days

Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers (VHFs - 7 - 14 Days

The scary part is that with some of these bio-agents, we could be fatally ill and not know it because the symptoms mimic common respiratory illnesses.

There are some minor differences in the word selection and sentence structure but that is going to happen between translators anyway. For the most part, the meaning is the same. There are a couple of sentences that are missing in the official translation that were in the original Arabic that kind of raise my eyebrowes a little but other than that no major differences.

The eyebrow raise is what I was particularly interested in. Any special keywords like "Niagra" or anything which are not mentioned?

I was reading something yesterday about using migratory birds to transmit diseases.

Yes - it gives us a whole new perspective to putting seed in our bird feeders and the cleanliness of the rails on our decks with avian bird flu and who knows what else they carry on their transitory little flights. Bought some Deet for the mosquitos - West Nile can't be far behind the melting snow and those of us who plan to work out in our yards and gardens as soon as the weather warms up a bit.

I had to get the shots last summer.
5 shots in my hip the first day but they weren't painful. Well, not real painful.
3 shots a few days later, this time 2 of them were in my right arm and 1 in the left. Then I had to go back 3 more times and get a shot or two in the arm. The only time it was painful was when I had a different nurse do it. She jabbed the needle in and my arm was sore for a day or two.
The first shots did make me a little ill. The medicine is toxic to your system and I was a bit nauseous and head achey for a few days.
Not something I'd like to go through again! The painful part is the cost. I had to go to the ER each time and I was told because most Dr.'s offices don't stock up on the medicine. I'm greatful our insurance covered most of it but I don't know what people do who don't have insurance. The total cost of each trip and each shot was close to 7,000.00$

The way I got possible exposure was when a raccoon got into the bottom of my rabbit's cage, and after the coon left, I handled the rabbit, not even thinking about exposure to rabbies, just wanted to calm the bunny down. Animal control had been called by the neighbor prior to the coon coming to my property, he came after the coon left my property and was able to find and shoot the coon. Took it and had it tested, test came back positive. Had to have my bunny put down.
If I ever see another coon in my lifetime, I'm running the other way. The thing is, here in N.C. there is recent story of a cat having rabbies and everyone who came in contact with it had to get the shots.
Motto is, ya can't be too careful.

Oh that sounds awful.

What about copies to the radio and tv talk shows?

Feel free to e-mail/fax/snail mail this to whomever you please. I will put some out around my town when I get some free time.

The Google search at the bottom is brilliant. A work of some diligent thought and I, for one, am appreciative you took the time to put this together!

It's not light reading, so most people will probably just ignore it, but I'm hoping it will grab the interest of some more thoughtful people. Thanks for your kind words!
