Piglets worth £24,000 are stolen

The stolen pigs are too small for slaughter

Thieves made off with more than 460 piglets worth about £24,000 from a farm building at Elveden, in Suffolk. The pigs weighing between eight kilograms and 90 kilograms, were taken at the weekend.

Police were hoping the theft was witnessed by someone travelling on the busy A11, which runs by the farm.

They said the offenders forced open the farm gates to allow access to the buildings and removed the pigs using a large twin-axle goods vehicle.

John Green, who manages the pigs for Elveden Farms Ltd, said the pigs were between six and 22 weeks old and too young for slaughtering.

It is thought they are being held in a barn or outbuilding.

Anyone with information about the pigs is asked to ring Suffolk Police.

Ok, let guestimate a little here: £24,000 x 1.86US (last known exchange rate by your's truly)= US$44,681.85 / 460 piggies = US$97.13...a piggy??

Sounds low to me, but I'm a supermarket carnivore. The cops should just follow the smell...

Yes, I was about to say, this is the one time when an FAA accident investigator could get on TV and say "There is no evidence of terrorism." and be believed.

Not so sure about the Muslims. They may have in mind to drive them down streets ahead of themselves, as a diversion whilst they engage in really malicious mischief, when all the English go off in pursuit of the fleeing pigs....
