After nearly three decades of failed relationships and emotional discontent, Lindsay Ashford has finally found himself.
Since he was a child, Ashford has always had a deep attraction to young girls but never acted on his urges or knew they had a name.

I hope not, but I'm afraid that within 20 years (about the amount of time it took homosexuals to get into the "mainstream"), it will be seen as just another "alternate lifestyle." That's really depressing.
Ashford, an American expatriate living in the south of France, believes it is time the public learned pedophiles are different from child molesters in that they enjoy a romantic and emotional, but not always sexual, connection with children. He also believes it is time for a child rights movement that will give kids more say in how to live their lives.
There's a reason that children aren't allowed to make these sorts of decisions... Or at least there was a time when they weren't. It's because a child isn't emotionally stable or responsible enough to be able to make these decisions. That's why children aren't allowed to enter into contracts, or (in the past, at least) be able to make medical decisions for themselves.
Ashford, 35, an unemployed business consultant, is part of a pioneering group of pedophiles from around the world who also believe pedophilia is not a sexual disorder that can be cured by medication and psychotherapy. He believes, rather, that it is a sexual orientation with which he was born, and therefore, cannot deny.
I agree, from what I read, pedophillia is not "curable," and has a terribly high rate of recurrance. THAT'S WHAT JAILS ARE FOR!!! It is NOT a "sexual orientation," but a mental illness. Plain and simple, there are some people who are born with certain types of mental illnesses, and this is one of them. These are people who should never be allowed near children.

The ACLU is defending NAMBLA in a case where NAMBLA is charged as an accessory to the murder of Jeffrey Curley... a 10 year old killed by a NAMBLA member Charles Jaynes. Jaynes wrote in a diary that he didn't know he was a pedophile until he found NAMBLA. He also looked at the NAMBLA website at the Boston Public Library the same day he kidnapped and molested Jeffrey Curley and dumped his body in a river.
