Dave, can we get that audio in any other format? Real is a pain to work with, and not entirely safe to install (i.e., loaded with spyware).

no seaman worth his salt would refer to a ship of that size as a "boat". You're right of course. A boat is what Kerry was on (by the way, he has admitted that when he went to Swift boats they were not doing inshore patrols, and he was pretty shocked and displeased when the mission changed, putting his quivering pink body in harm's way).
Of course, Naval Aviators call 'em boats, but they do it to tick off the black shoes (boat drivers).

DIVAD? Not sure what that is but if it's the precursor to today's anti-artillery radar systems then he got that one wrong as well. This was the Divisional Air Defense gun, the ill-fated Sgt York twin-barrelled AA cannon. It was armored and self-propelled, and was meant to replace the Vulcan and accompany the Abrams and Bradley into the thick of the AirLand Battle, which was the Army "Buzzword du Jour".
The poor Sgt York was most famous for having its radars ignore a helicopter drone and lock on the exhaust fan on the range latrine during a public demo. When the Army brass has a bad feeling about a weapons system, they name it after an NCO instead of after a general.
It looks like three things on Kerry's hit list actually got canked, or at least, didn't make it to and remain fielded:
- Binary Chemical Munitions (some shells were produced, but they were, or are being, destroyed in special purpose-built incinerators).
- Battlesip Reactivation (what were we thinking? But they were impressive while they lasted).
- DIVAD (as described, a turkey. Even Republican senators were all for killing it).
None of those are of any use to us in the GWOT. Most of the others, though, are, and Kerry wanted to cancel the lot. In Stan my guys and I used B-1, B-2, F-15, and AH-64 aircraft. The guys before us had had F-14s and there were A-8s which I don't think we used much -- all of these would have been cancelled if Kerry was minding the store.
Also, cancelling a weapon doesn't just take it off the chessboard. You're also throwing away the technology spinoffs. For instance, the very useful Predator drones would be impossible without the knowledge gained from Tomahawk. If Kerry was in charge, we wouldn't have them.

Battlesip Reactivation (what were we thinking? But they were impressive while they lasted). Our battleships were used quite effectively in GWI as a Tomahawk platform (something that would have been deleted by Kerry) in addition to being the core of the diversion that enabled the "great end-around" in the desert.
On 26 Feb 1991 (G+3), "using Remotely Piloted Vehicles and Marine spotters ashore to zero-in on targets, including artillery, mortar and missile positions, ammunition storage facilities and a Silkworm missile site, battleships USS WISCONSIN and USS MISSOURI have fired more than 1.000 rounds of 16" ammunition in support of ground operations. USS MISSOURI alone fired more than one million pounds of ordnance."source
This was just ONE DAY of operations of GWI. It made Iraqi military command think they were on the receiving end of an amphibious invasion and the rest was history.
As everyone knows, we do not have this type of fire-support anywhere in the inventory anymore.

You need to ask auto responder.
My knowledge of this tech stuff is smaller than the sharp point of a needle.
This is a great question and ties in with where can we store the original sound and video data. You know that the rats will erase those files when they find out that we making them available. Auto responder is doing that.

I heard on the radio news this morning - CNN Radio as I recall - that Kerry is "blasting" Bush for bringing up the candidate's former voting record. His press release makes it sound like his voting record isn't fair game and that any discussion about it is a negative attack. Hah!!!
Not only that, but the CNN radio announcer basically read from the press release. No mention of any kind at all if Kerry actually voted AGAINST any of the weapon systems. Of course, why would we expect this Sunday morning news jockey to actually spend five minutes researching a story? Much easier to read the already prepared press release from the media's cadidate of choice.
Only goes to show how important it is that we keep this info about JF'nK's utter lack of support for our armed forces out in the public domain. The guy simply cannot be trusted.
New idea for Kerry campaign sticker: "Vote for Kerry. Hey, you never know which one you might actually get!"
LOL!

For instance, the very useful Predator drones would be impossible without the knowledge gained from Tomahawk. If Kerry was in charge, we wouldn't have them. That was my major point. I'd love to see a commercial with someone like you, calling in air support in Afghanistan, "We're in the shit, I need a B-1 now." Controller "Sorry John Kerry got it canceled" "Well then give me a B-2" Controller "Kerry cancelled it." "Okay then give me whatever you've got, an F-15 or an F-14 and we need it now!" Controller "They've all been canceled."
Or maybe the same setup but you get all the air support you need and at the end of the commercial the voice says, now imagine how our soldiers would have felt had Senator Kerry had won the fight to cancel those air platforms?
Imagine the howls of pain from the Rats and press. I'd love every second of it.
I was in the Navy during the reactivation of hte Battleships (I was in Norfolk when the Iowa came back in after their turret blew up and I knew instinctively that the cover story of Hartwig be a depressed gay committing suicide was a BS story) and we were told it cost 200,000 to pull a batttleship away from the pier. Now that's cost effective..... NOT!

I'm going to say it, regardless of what anyone else says, but Kerry is much like Cleland, in that on defense issues, he doesn't have a leg to stand on. Ok, ban me, but I said it.
To: diotima
AWESOME!!! question though. Is anyone going to call Karry's office and authenticate this, I am concerned because they don't have a signiture from him, date of origination, whom it was sent to, initials of who typed it etc...
To: big ern
love to see the response of the only thing that the military has flying is bi planes from WWI. due to kerry's cuts. LOL
To: sharkdiver
Cry Baby Kerry says, because he served in Nam, no one has right to question his Anti-Defense and Liberal Voting record or his Anti-War Activities!
