Actually, no one calls Navy ships anything but ships with two exceptions: subs are referred to as boats (and targets!) and almost all aviators refer to aircraft carriers as "The Boat."

I would hate to think where we would be today (some of this stuff is now out of date/not used anymore) without the F15, f14a, f14d, Patriot, A64 (apache?) Aegis?!?!?!, Star Wars, Tomahawk, B1, Phoenix, and Sparrow.

The only thing I see on there that he got right was the Battleship reactivation which was not cost effective.

DIVAD? Not sure what that is but if it's the precursor to today's anti-artillery radar systems then he got that one wrong as well.

Can anyone make out the first line under Land Forces?

Jeff, imagine where we would be if we hadn't developed these sytems. The Chinese would already be ahead of us.LOL Except for they wouldn't have had as much to steal from us.

I thought I was getting around that problem by setting up a Yahoo Groups site where I could post the pics, which is where the links in my post are directed. Does that method not work? If not I've considered using a blog, but I thought I'd try that first.

Maybe Yahoo has some restriction where you can't do public links!

Maybe only members of the group can see it????

Hmmm--that might be it. Don't know for sure, though. I guess I'll try changing the list settings so that the list is publicly accessible and see if that makes a difference--I do have it set up right now so that only members can post.

In 1993, Voted Against Increased Defense Spending For Military Pay

In 1993... on October 3rd and 4th, a violent battle took place in the streets of Mogadishu, Somalia. Some of you have seen that battle in Ridley Scott's eerily realistic Black Hawk Down. Kerry not only voted against funding some of the units that were engaged in that battle, he voted to cut their damn pay.

John F. Kerry has never acted to defer or prevent a steady increase in Congressional or Senatorial pay, which had ballooned well into the six figures on his watch. But to him, a PFC who spent that day and night under withering fire, or was shredded by enemy gunfire, or bled to death, was not worth an additional 3% or 4% on top of the maybe $17,000 a year he was being paid at the time. It's as if it was coming out of his own pocket -- like the money the grasping, greedy trust-fund baby notoriously doesn't give to charities.

Yeah, he's all for the soldiers and the veterans. Just listen to him. But if you dare to mention his lengthy and consistent record of disrespect and disloyalty to those same men, well, you are "attacking" him. Mr Silver Star turns out to be a wuss.

Folks, educate me. "Tomahawk" missile is listed under nuclear programs.

It was designed as a nuclear system, and only subsequently as its accuracy kept getting better, and of course as we cooperated with Russia in reducing strategic arsenals on both sides, was it developed as a conventional weapon.

Incredible that Kerry was against funding the Apache AH-64. The Apaches are used daily by our military around the globe (not just Iraq and Afghanistan) on the War on Terror.

Not only that, it's been a major export earner for the US -- in service in several NATO allies' air forces, including the British Army, the Netherlands and Greece, and also important non-NATO allies around the globe: Israel, Egypt, Singapore, Japan, and Kuwait, with more likely to come. In all 116 very pricey machines have gone abroad so far, and most of those dollars went into American workers' pockets.

None of those nations would have bought those machines unless we had the confidence to buy them ourselves. Around that time Northrop designed a great plane for export, the F-20. It was a successor to the lightweight F-5 which saw service around the world... but nobody bought the F-20, not one nation, even though it was the best buy on the market for them. The reason? The USAF bought a handful of F-5s and used them in Vietnam during that program. With the imprimatur of the USAF on it, defence establishments around the world felt good about buying the little jets, everywere from Norway to Switzerland to Chile to Indonesia. A lot of them still use them. They'd have upgraded to F-20s, if the USAF had operated even a handful of them. The Air Force didn't dare buy any examples of a cheaper plane while the Democrats held Congress and Kerry was running around with a great big cleaver.

This also illustrates Kerry's indifference to the lives of our combatants. The old HueyCobra helicopter is very poorly protected by modern standards, and when one goes in, the crew often don't make it. The better-designed Apache often protects the crews from deadly weapons and staggering impacts. We have lost a lot of Apaches in the war but not the pilots... if we were still flying Cobras there would be 25 to 50 more dead aviators.

The money quote in the Kerry campaign document is on the second page, about how foolish he thinks it is to vote to spend money on defense. Dude hasn't changed.
