BURLINGAME, Calif. (AP) -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger tried to rally Republicans around his controversial ballot initiative while also giving conservatives the tough talk against gay marriage that they had been seeking.
Schwarzenegger brought cheering activists at the state Republican convention to their feet Friday night with his announcement that he had directed Attorney General Bill Lockyer to take immediate legal steps to stop San Francisco from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

For all those who worried Arnie wouldn't be a real conservative, he seems bolder than Bush thus far.
IMO all who performed illegal merriages should be given the boot too. Just like an Alabama Judge who refused to let the ten commandments go.

Just like an Alabama Judge who refused to let the ten commandments go. Actually that judge had much firmer legal and contitutional grounds. He was standing up against the lawless judicial imperialism that the federal courts have been imposing in this country.

"We rely on our courts to enforce the rule of law. But you see, in San Francisco, the courts are dropping the ball,"
He's relying on the courts to do his job?

Arnie will be the first but; certainly not the last to jump off the fence and drop down on the right side of the gay marriage issue. The polls that show no strong feelings yet, do so becuse the issue is hypothetical. As it becomes more real, people will back away and come to our side.
The gay marriage issue will work very well for our side.
