ON DRUDGE NOW
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ordered California's attorney general Friday to take legal action to stop San Francisco from granting marriage licenses to gay couples.
In a letter to Attorney General Bill Lockyer, Schwarzenegger directed the state's top lawyer "to take immediate steps" to get a definitive court ruling declaring what the city is doing to be illegal.
"You have, at this point, nearly two weeks of flouting of state law. The governor feels that we've come to a point where we're starting down a dangerous path and it leads to anarchy at some point," said Rob Stutzman, Schwarzenegger's communications director. "It's time for this to end."
Stutzman said that Schwarzenegger's directive to the attorney general was prompted in part by a Superior Court judge's decision Friday not to impose a temporary restraining order on the city that would have halted the weeklong parade of 3,175 same-sex weddings.
Lockyer, an elected Democrat who is a potential candidate in the 2006 governor's race, already has said that he plans to vigorously defend the state in the lawsuit San Francisco's city attorney brought Thursday that challenged California's marriage laws on constitutional grounds.
"By virtue of the city and county of San Francisco having sued the state of California, we need to respond to that lawsuit in the next 30 days," said Nathan Barankin, a spokesman for Lockyer said Friday. "It will be squarely before the courts

Texas allows silencers? I thought they were universally illegal. They are perfectly legal here in Texas. You just have to fill out the paperwork, pay the NFA transfer fee, and you are good to go. Gotta love Texas!

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who directed the county clerk to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples last week, has defended his actions by saying California's Constitution prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
The mayor's spokesman, Peter Ragone, scoffed at Schwarzenegger's directive to the attorney general, noting that two judges have already declined to grant emergency orders sought by two conservative opponents of marriage rights for gays and lesbians.
"The truth is, thousands of people are involved in loving relationships and having them recognized for the first time," Ragone said. "We urge the governor to meet with some of the couples because what's happening is both lawful and loving."

Kerry has been wishy-washy on the subject. Kerry thinks it should be a "States Right Issue" (unlike abortion). But what good did it do the residents of Maricónia (CA) who voted 62% against Gay Marriage. The courts will not enforce the will of the people.

LYou little nasty subsubsurviants of humanity, dwellers from hell, I ask you nicely to please stay on your side of the border, we don't want you to pass the border of kalifornia. We will push you back. Why don't you shut your big yap and clean up your own backyard.

So, Monkey's Eyebrow, Tennessee should start issuing San Francisco concealed carry permits and Pondunk Utah should start issuing CA state workmen's compensation awards and Mabel, Mississippi should start accepting new freshmen to UC San Diego. Won't this be fun?

As a San Diegan I am sad to see my state make such foolish errors and to be dimissed by posters on this column. Many of us are horrified by what is going on and are hoping someone (are you listening Governor?) will step forward and stop this mess. Being denigrated by fellow conservatives doesn't help. The people involved in this political ploy are not Californian, they are liberals. More accurately, they are San Francisco Democrats. (many thanks to Jeanne Kirkpatrick for coining that term)
THIS ACTION IS NOTHING BUT THE RAPE OF THE INSTITUTION OF MARRIAGE, BY A SMALL, PERVERSE GROUP OF LIBERALS, AIDED AND ABETTED BY CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND JUDGES.
corruption is often thought to involve money and favors, but the true definition involves morals. Merriam-Webster defines corrupt as:
1 a : to become tainted or rotten b : to become morally debased
2 : to cause disintegration or ruin
These corrupt politicians and judges are the result of 30 to 40 years of liberals laying the groundwork for a complete subversion of society.
The current manifestion in San Francisco didn't just pop up over night. They have been working on this for years.
The "human rights initiatives" or "equal protection laws"passed in the past decade were promoted with just this in mind. Under the resonant terms "human rights" and "equal rights" the spade work was done to destroy our society. To rip open the ties that bind us.
However, when they saw the reaction of the rest of society to the events in Massachusetts they decided they had to act now, or risk the door being closed on them. So they made the break now that they have been leading up to for years.
So far it is working. Unless someone, or some group, is willing to stand up for our institutions, they will be destroyed by those claiming they only want their rights, they want an end to discrimination, etc. They will use our values against us.
And make no mistake, the leaders of this movement are NOT interested in expanding marriage to include them, they are interested in destroying marriage, families, religions, morality and values. All so they can live their perverse lifestyle and recruit others into it.
I am not a religious man, but God help us if we don't stop this.
What are you going to do about it Bub?? You had better do something, or you and your's will have f*#ked the rest of the United States. I hate to put this on you, but you are a part of it. Because you live there. Stop the liberals. VOTE Stop the insanity anyway you can. We feel your pain, and hope we don't have to feel any more. You have to take care of yourself as we do.

These people are just trying to get Bush re-elected. Sure seems like it. This is making average Americans very angry. I agree, this will mobilize Americans against the liberal leftist agenda and their buddies in the Dem party like nothing else.
I'm disgusted that we have to be subjected to this freak show let alone the inane demands that we accept and endorse it as legitimate.

This has no relationship to civil disobedience. This is an ELECTED civil servant bureaucrat (in other words the GOVERNMENT) refusing to follow or carry out the law, not a civilian disobeying the law.

I say, bring it on. I can't wait to see this one go down in flames. "Gay" marriage cannot become the law of the land.
If it does, things are going to start cracking.

jer, things are already cracking. The cracking has just begun.

Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. (Romans 1:32)
