Thoughts From a Patriot

What is a Troll???? I was taught as a young child that a troll is a hideous creature that live under a bridge that wants to harm children.
Apparently, there are a few subscribers to Free Republic that consider themselves the Troll Patrol.
Some authors of Posts to the Free Republic website are accused of being "Trolls". These people, whom call themselves the Troll Patrol, are trying to intimidate Americans who are wanting to express their thoughts and concerns to keep their thoughts to themsleves. This is an attempt to enforce censorship or pressure someone not to express themselves.
I would like to say to the Troll Patrol that this in not the old USSR or Nazi Germany in the 40's. This is the United States of America and we do have freedom of speech in this country.
If you want to find trolls, I suggest that you visit Sherwood Forrest there are probaly a few lurking around.
God Bless the United States and Protect Us From the Troll Patrol.

Shoot, I wound up #3 to post to current troll. You know its gotta be a troll when they equate FR to Nazi Germany.
On the Long Knives thread a few weeks back, at least one poster was observed to remarkly pleasantly about the "fumigation" after many were banned. Many species of trolls.

Some of the folks that use FR as a chat room have accused me of something or another when I ask the purpose of their post or question why they pollute a serious thread with inane comments meant to be humorous.
If a post doesn't ".... work to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America." it doesn't belong here, IMHO.
My concern has nothing to do with "freedom of speech", it simply relates to common courtesy and sticking to the purpose of the FR.

There are many regular and long-standing trolls Yes, but they are not newbies who in their first vanity post completely misunderstand the relationship between the 1st Amendment and private parties (ala Tim Robbins).
You needs to pay dues before you start stuff like this! Get banned for a little while, get a couple of threads pulled. Get in a Flame War, ask the AM to spare your life, that kind of thing!
Then you can be a Troll and live! This should be Viking Kitty bait so this guy/gal can get that all-important first suspension out of the way.

I saw the newbie on another thread, and could not understand the vitriol endemic to same. Nobody loves a good zot more than me and Conspiracy Guy:)

If you're going to accuse people of being a Troll Patrol you really ought to name them. This isn't the USSR or Nazi Germany in the 40's, you know.

Not sure that I follow what you're trying to say about "Trolls". But I know "Trolling" when I see it.

Feel free, but the fact that there are longstanding trolls doesn't undermine my observation that just-joined folks are those most likely to be troll-zotted.
Compare that to your other comment: One thing we know on FR is that trolls are more prevalent among those who JUST JOINED THE FORUM MERE DAYS AGO. Yes, new trolls are more likely to be zotted than old trolls, but that doesn't indicate the numerical prevalence of one or the other.

Been out, so I missed that one, but there has been a wealth of people joining up when some big news story breaks, i.e., robbery, etc., and saying "I know this person and he's innocent."
There IS a "troll list," if you will, of those people going around.
