Great post! I'm sure the Gipper was shaking in his boots at the time... And I remember later that summer, Jimmy Carter saying that President Reagan would avoid debating Mondale, to which the Great One replied "There he goes again!"
Ah, memories!

OH MY GOD! REAGAN BETTER GET OFF HIS BUTT AND START ANSWERING HIS CRITICS. HE NEEDS TO TAKE IT TO THE DEMS. HE'S TRYING TO LOSE THIS ELECTION. WE BETTER GET USED TO THE PHRASE "PRESIDENT MONDALE."
Seriously, thanks for the muh needed perspective.
To: Freemyland
Now if I could get a much needed spelling lesson. "Muh" = "much"

Thanks for reminding us of one more thing Carter was wrong about. Where's the beef, indeed.

You don't say!! Did they finally drag that out of him? I'll bet he was a war hero, too. He really needs to learn to toot his own horn.

You can win a few bets by asking people who his running mate was. Of course we all remember former Wisconsin Governor Patrick Lucey. One heartbeat away from heading a loser ticket.
