Rush: Gay Marriage About to Explode as an Election Issue (in the Dems' faces)
Rush Limbaugh Show | 2/19/04 | LS

Posted on 02/19/2004 10:01:02 AM PST by LS

Reading from articles about Barney Frank and by Ken Schrag about the SF mayor, it is clear that the "gay marriage" issue is becoming a time bomb. Dems such as Schrag and Frank are warning this is a big problem, especially if the Dem Party as a whole gets tagged with this issue.

Folks, while I've always thought this would break the GOP's way, I never thought it would be a "defining" issue. But Rush was quoting info on the "Defense of Marriage" bill that CALIFORNIANS passed by an overwhelming margin not long ago. This issue by itself puts California "in play" (my gosh, and even Massachusetts?), and could raise utter hell with the Dems' electoral map, not to mention Feinstein's (Boxer's? Who is up?) re-election.

Its a cultural issue that hurts the Democrats with moderate Democrats and independents. They can straddle the fence but the actions of the courts and ultra-liberal mayors like San Francisco's Gavin Newsom is pushing them to the fringe. That's not where they want to be if they hope to win the general election in the fall.

you can use that time and effort to pass an AMENDMENT that cannot be?

[T]he right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

Now, what were you saying about amendments?

My thoughts exactly. We leave this issue alone. The Loony Left will drive the middle into our arms. After all, the liberals are showing the public who they really are when they stop pretending to be somebody they're not. Life is good!

You are correct. Excess is never enough for liberals.

Abortion made legal - the excess was partial birth abortion and even the wafflers were fed up.

Live Gay parades and teaching tolerance for gays is school are legal - the excess is gay marriage.

I ask that anyone belonging to any religious organization begin to bring up the questions posed in post 46. Liberals always want to have a "national dialog" on issues. They will not like being answered back on this issue.

I don't disagree with your assertion either but, if we lose our national sovereignty (which is what FTAA will do) then all bets are off. Raging social issues of our time take a far back seat to maintaining our Constitutional God given rights, preserving our borders from criminals and TERRORISTS!, maintaining some sort of economic base, etc. I can't say it enough....this open border/FTAA/illegal immigration problem, if not solved absolutely turns us into a banana republic.

Once the gay issue blows up, get ready for the re-treading of the old tires of the reparations crap...same old issues that get bandied around in the press to rile up the brain dead troops....

Let a conservative break the law and the goon squads will break down your doors and the IRS will come get everything you own.

The "Two-Party Cartel" which is bought & paid for by the elites, do not want a conservative agenda in place because it runs contrary to them. So ALWAYS the left gets the breaks & the right just sends lip service to the sheeple. This occurs time after time after time. The only way to oppose is to vote for an alternative. Maybe the majority will shift but I guarantee you that nothing will change the current pubbies to make America more conservative.

The other advantage is HOW this issue came about: The ruling of the Massachusetts Supreme Court.

Had it been a legislature, I think there would be less of an outcry.

I believe that people are really beginning to get tired of all the sin and violence in this country and the tide is beginning to turn. It's about time.

I have very mixed feelings when it comes to trends. The bible says there is nothing new under the sun yet it also talks about things getting worse near the end. Many time frames in this country have been interpreted as being the end times yet here we still are. Maybe this gay marriage thing is the real McCoy though. If it is, who would want to stop it?

Interesting point - would the supporters of the MA Supreme Court order to a legislative body to create law the way the court demands, still be as supportive if the court said, "make slavery legal?" or "women cannot vote?"

You see there is a way to turn the argument right back on them.

Bush needs to state it wide and clear.

NOW!

Marriage is between a man and a woman.

PERIOD.

Civil Unions, Arrangements, Liaisons, etc. are available however, for Man with Goat, Man with Man, Man with Banana, Man with Shelby Mustang, Man with Boat, and Man with Computer.

Handle this right, President Bush, and your base will come home to roost.

Try coming into the 21st century. The Constitution is what the courts say it is, but they cannot go too far from what is CLEARLY stated. So it's time to clearly state a couple of things.

Yah, things are so bad here YOU'RE still here, unfortunately. You have no clue what a "banana republic" is.

Personally, I'm doing quite well. So is my family. So are my friends. But please, by all means, go to France. You'll be much happier there, since you hate Bush so much---you'll have a lot in common.

Every Libertarian meeting I've been to they are RADICALLY pro-choice. And since I do support the Constitution, I certainly don't support pro-choice, as you apparently do.

The SF mayor's ignoring of the law puts me in mind of the way Nevada voters ended up with a tax increase that they voted down, by way of judges.

Thats why conservatives MUST file THEIR OWN LAWSUITS in reply. Lawsuit after lawsuit after lawsuit.

Its time to WEAR THEM DOWN!
