The President met with Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in the Oval Office of the White House to discuss regional security and diplomatic issues. (Geography refresher: Tunisia is in North Africa, borders eastern Algeria and is SW of Italy, across the Mediterranean; the CIA wrote recently, "Tunisia has taken a moderate, non-aligned stance in its foreign relations.")
Laura Bush visited students and educators at Limerick Elementary School in the Canoga Park area of Los Angeles, promoting literacy. Mrs. Bush encouraged students to read more than they watch television.
And on a "know your opponents" note: the democrats continue to run in Circles of Confusion, today's version of Dante's Divine Comedy: The Inferno.
Enjoy your Dose of W, and welcome to Sanity Island!

It's my understanding that ANG flew in the neighborhood of 30,000 missions in Viet Nam. So much for staying at home, huh?

You know him? Cool! I've been waiting for the book to come out ever since I read about it on Amazon.com, way back in Nov. or Dec. Hopefully it will be in WalMart so I can get it as soon as it's released.
(no bookstores around here.)

To hear Kerry tell it, he spent 4 years in Vietnam. I was surprised to read that it was only 4 MONTHS. Of course, I wouldn't have wanted to spend 4 Days. Also read that he didn't know he would be in any danger on this boat, but 2 weeks after he arrived, the mission changed and he got caught.
Let's be clear what Lt. George W. Bush was doing for his 5 years & 4 months of service. He was flying F-102 Fighter Jets protecting the skies of the United States from the Russians, just like pilots today are protecting our skies from terrorists. Only McAuliffe, the Dims & the liberal media think he was in a no-danger zone. I read somewhere that 6 pilots in his unit was killed. I loved those military evaluations in his records released the other day that said "Lt Bush is an exemplary pilot & a fine officer." "Lt. Bush is a NATURAL LEADER & his fellow guardsmen look to him for leadership." Lt. Bush has an impeccable military bearing." "Lt Bush is a fierce competitor and is in the top 10% of pilots." Of course, you never heard this from the liberal media. They had rather drop the subject and make nasty insinuations instead of reading those praises about the moran they think is in the WH.

**Do you remember crawling under your school desk?.....(Like a lot of good a little desk would do if they dropped a "big bomb"!) **
I do indeed. I also remember having to crawl out of the 2nd story school room window with the other 20 children, making our way down the levels to the playground.

***Robin, the daughter that died. ***
It's heartbreaking to read about. BB went into a severe depression after it happened. In one book she writes about how she and GHWB would cry themselves to sleep, in each others' arms.
Her death also had a huge impact on GWB.

Thanks for posting that about stopping wire transfers for illegals. That is a great idea, and probably would do a lot of good.

Why, thank you! I was feeling badly because there weren't a lot of photos today ... but that one of Laura with the little girl, bear-hugging the First Lady, kind of made up for it.

Hello TnT, OWF, ALL I just finished watching Dubya's speech at Ft. Polk, LA, I listened to it yesterday but couldn't get a sense of the intensity of his remarks. The last paragraph is powerful and so I will post it below....
"For all Americans, the last three years have brought tests we didn't ask for, and for achievements shared by all. And by our actions we have shown what kind of nation we are. We're a nation with a mission, and that mission comes from our most basic beliefs. We believe that freedom is the right of every single person in the world. By the unselfish dedication of Americans in uniform, people in our own country and in lands far away, people can live in freedom and know the peace that freedom brings.
America has been given great responsibilities, and they have come to the right country. We don't shirk from any challenge. We're rising to the call of history. Now and in the future, this great republic will lead the cause of freedom and peace.
May God bless you all, and may God continue to bless our country. (Applause.) Thank you all" George W. Bush February 17th, 2004 Ft. Polk, LA
