Friendly sex shops. Peet's. Dog parks. Stellar restaurants. Superlative tattoo artists. Fabulous weather. Unparalleled natural beauty. Organic foods. Fewer SUVs, more Priuses. Mission burritos. An overwhelming anti-Schwarzenegger sentiment. Sushi. Bush never visits.

There are things that make you happy to live in San Francisco, truly grateful, along with plenty of things that make you hyper-aware that you live in the country's most progressive open-minded convoluted messed-up liberal bubble, for both good and ill.

I feel truly sorry for the few remaining San Franciscans who are decent folks who are stuck with a city quickly going down the sewer hole.

But here's the best part: The City's brave move was not merely a giant well-manicured middle finger to the Christian Right and indignant homophobic conservatives everywhere.

Nor was it just an audacious act of civil disobedience, guaranteed to raise the ire of Bible thumpers and so-called pro-family groups hailing everywhere from Orange County to Colorado Springs. That's just a nice bonus.

Such hate. And what the writer has not figured out yet is that soon any local, state or federal official that does like a law may just ignore it (just like the SF mayor). You applaud it now (when used to promote your own social agenda) but will hate it when it is used against you...

What's funny is that these homo-promo types don't ever tell us the "good" to society that homo-pseudo-marriages will produce, other than their own gratification. They constantly whine about the religious and the conservatives who oppose this mess and talk about how "wrong" they are but I have yet, even in this lame article, to see them produce the benefits of accepting such immorality will avail to us as a society. Morons like this laugh at the "slippery slope" that their "enemies" warn about, all the while they are barreling down it at mach 1, joyfully and "proud" and don't even realize it!

Bill Press said that Alabama judge belonged in jail for his refusal to remove the ten commandments from the courthouse. Lets see if this mayor loses his job like the good judge did.

For the life of me, I have not been able to understand why folks like this think that those who oppose homosexuality are either stupid or afraid. Is this ALL that they have to rely on to assume the position of moral pseudosuperiority? Do they need to think that they are powerful and that those who oppose them are weak? Is it possible for people simply to do privately what they want to do without having to put others down in order to justify it? The law in California (passed by a ballot proposition) is that marriage is defined as between one man and one woman. The SF Mayor ordered his clerk's office to issue marriage certificates to homosexual couples.
