Heh, last week I had emailed Rich Lowery a link to Hon's thread about his telephone conversation with Turnipseed suggesting that Natl Review needed to jump on it. Appears they did.

Now if they can just get the facts staight about what David Kay said. This NG story is being cleared up and will go away now because Kerry wants it to go away.

"Even when John Calhoun, the man who remembers Bush in Alabama, sent the White House an e-mail saying he had useful information, he received a stock response, without any indication the White House was interested in what he had to say."

This bespeaks of over-confidence. W reminds me of my own kid, in both his assets and his liabilities. Over-confidence is one of the latter that they both share.

He better be prepared to really RUN for re-election, we need him to be our prez. He better not sit back and let any of the dwarves sneak in the back door.

At the risk of being immodest, I sent what I had found out about the Turnipseed story and a link to my thread here about it to an acquaintance in management at National Review.

Debunking The Bush AWOL Story - From The Horse's Mouth

He said that he would pass it on, and that they would probably do a story on it. This looks like that story.

"this case will come to nothing" WELL, it should come to treason against our President for making false accusations and all those culpable in promoting this ought to be thrown in jail...It's disgusting that such trash is even aired on television or taking up print space on newspapers! We're fighting a 2 front enemy line - terrorists and democrats~

York is a dreamer! I hate it when people do this!

York is using logic and persuasive evidence to argue his position. The vicious and sleazy crap weasels aren't interested in logic! They know what they believe and aren't interested in facts! When are we going to learn this??

Some scumbag dem will review all that material and find some insignificant error ("AUGUST 6, 1972 WAS A WEDNESDAY, NOT A THURSDAY") and take it as proof of everything they have been told to believe but the self-loathing Bush haters. I guarantee that you'll hear about this issue all the way up to election, often mentioned by left wing media presstitutes who'll tlk about Bush rumors but require absolute proof about Kerry's girlfriends or Dean's abortions.

The White House may have played this silly game too much. Thus, every other viscious rumor that does not get extensive response by Bush will be presumed to be true because of the difference. The only positive is that we can turn this same logic on Kerry. I will want to see the terms of his prenuptual agreement especially to see what the effect of his attack on tax breaks for the wealthy would be on his own and the Widow Heinz's wealth.

Counting other, shorter, postings in between, by the end of his training period Bush had served two years on active duty.

Isn't this something like 600% of the time that Kerry was in Vietnam?

You're missing the point. York isn't using logic and persuasive evidence to try to persuade the "vicious and sleazy crap weasels" about anything, viz Those records have not quieted the most determined of the president's enemies — no one who watches the Democratic opposition really believed they would — He's laying out the story for those who aren't the weasels so that when they hear the weasels they will realize just how vicious and sleazy the crap-peddlers actually are.

! We're fighting a 2 front enemy line - terrorists and democrats~

IRONIC, ain't it? The terrorists (worldwide organized crime) are openly FUNDING the DEMOCRATIC candidates. In ways and amounts that AMERICANS are not allowed to do.

Now, I don't think Kerry is any worse than most politicians, but that only puts him on a level slightly below trustee's in prison.

He will say anything to get the job, then exploit the position for his own profit, while forgetting about all those promises and plans. Kerry has proven he is two-faced and distorts the truth (lies) in order to achieve his goals.

Whereas President Bush has a questionable area in his service record likely due to lack of communication by his command chain, Kerry seems to have played the lawyer game, using the words of the law to get out of his duty quicker, instead of following the intent of the law.

I DO NOT WANT A PRESIDENT that plays game with WORDS to decide whether the law applies to him or not, and you. Usually the case is NOT him, BUT DEFINITELY YOU.

I like having a President who bases his INTERPRETATION, ENFORCEMENT, and VOTING POWER on laws on MORAL and RELIGIOUS (Christian values primarily but not limited to) grounds.

ONE NATION, UNDER GOD.

I like having a PRESIDENT that other nations are respectful of. I like having a President that is saying what I am saying.

If it is WRONG, we must stop it. We know GOOD, we know EVIL. We support GOOD, we fight EVIL.

WE WILL NO LONGER TURN OUR HEAD!

"He better be prepared to really RUN for re-election, we need him to be our prez. He better not sit back and let any of the dwarves sneak in the back door."

Maybe I'm totally wrong about all of this, but I become increasingly convinced that Bush will be re-elected. Reasons: once the Bush team starts (as you said, sooner rather than later!), it will become clear who needs to be running the country. AND, if Hillary Clinton really intends to run for the presidency, I don't think Team Clinton will allow any other democratic candidate to win this time. I think she knows it will be really tough for her to win in 2004, and she needs a few more years to soften the public up to the idea of a woman president. And if a democrat SHOULD win this time, she knows we'll all be so sick of how things go sour that we wouldn't vote for ANY democrat in 2008. When I saw her interview with Katy Couric yesterday morning (on the same time as Sean Hannity on 'Good Morning, America'!), I began to realize then how she actually COULD become president one of these days! A very scary thought... Nope! They'll let Bush have 4 more years, then move in for the kill...

An excellent piece, but Mr. York has failed to consider the possibility that the White House doesn't want this issue to go away. Bashing everyone who served in the Vietnam era in a capacity other than combat in Vietnam as a draft dodger is loopy. And keeping Vietnam alive as an issue is even loopier in light of Kerry's Vietnam veteran bashing and pacifist voting record. Did you notice President Bush personally paid the Guard a visit?

I didn't mean it as a brag. But the amazing thing is that one person, even just sitting at a keyboard, can help to get the facts out.

We should encourage each other as much as possible to do that, don't you think?
