"Even when John Calhoun, the man who remembers Bush in Alabama, sent the White House an e-mail saying he had useful information, he received a stock response, without any indication the White House was interested in what he had to say."

This bespeaks of over-confidence. W reminds me of my own kid, in both his assets and his liabilities. Over-confidence is one of the latter that they both share.

He better be prepared to really RUN for re-election, we need him to be our prez. He better not sit back and let any of the dwarves sneak in the back door.

It just tells me that no one is reading White House emails.

Maybe I'm totally wrong about all of this, but I become increasingly convinced that Bush will be re-elected. Reasons: once the Bush team starts (as you said, sooner rather than later!), it will become clear who needs to be running the country. AND, if Hillary Clinton really intends to run for the presidency, I don't think Team Clinton will allow any other democratic candidate to win this time. I think she knows it will be really tough for her to win in 2004, and she needs a few more years to soften the public up to the idea of a woman president. And if a democrat SHOULD win this time, she knows we'll all be so sick of how things go sour that we wouldn't vote for ANY democrat in 2008. When I saw her interview with Katy Couric yesterday morning (on the same time as Sean Hannity on 'Good Morning, America'!), I began to realize then how she actually COULD become president one of these days! A very scary thought... Nope! They'll let Bush have 4 more years, then move in for the kill...
