From the looks of this list, it appears that the typical Guitar World reader is a 30-something adolescent whose warped mind is stuck in the 1980s.
hey those 80's made me want to play in the guitar!!!!

Look they had to make room for Nick Bowcott. It was probably a tough call.

I'm not much of a country music fan, but I'm sure there's some good 'ol boys that could school a few of these spandex-wearing poodle-heads.

Or Sorrow from "Delicate Sound of Thunder". Maybe not thrashmetal, but hardly Flatt and Scruggs either.

Guitar World is heavily weighted towards metal...
Every month they print a number of transcriptions of songs, and at least 80% are "headbanging!"
Guitar Player magazine would be more balanced.

Am I blind or was there no mention of Eric Clapton here? I assume most of those polled never heard of Chris Spedding.
11 people ahead of Jim Hendrix? Ridiculous. Clapton not even on the list? Dumb and dumberer. Insane.

Did I just scroll too fast?...No Pat Metheney??I'm sure Pat is perfectly happy to just have the 16 Grammys he's won over the years, including another one this year for "One Quiet Night". And he's back in the studio with Lyle et al for another Group album, can't wait.

Obviously a list of rock guitarists. I didn't see (maybe I missed it?) Mike Stern, Django Reinhart, John Scofield...so, no, no Pat Metheny. : )

So many different styles.
