There's a great mariachi version of "Malaguena" on Placido Domingo's CD, 100 Years of Mariachi. If the Net-knight and I never make it Spain for the flamenco, maybe we can at least get to Guadalajara for the mariachi.

Hendrix is 12 spots down? No mention of Frank Zappa or Terry Kath either. This list is bogus.
Yup.

Jimmy Page should reside at the #1 spot on any guitar greatest list.
SRV should be in the top 10.
Clapton too.
That being said, it's all personal taste anyway.
Dan Tyminski should be on any list also. Bluegrass is music too.

Wow ... other people know Strato, Arch Enemy, Gamma Ray, Iced Earth and Children of Bodom!? I thought I was alone! Not only are you not alone, but there are many, many more of us out there. Don't let our appearances fool you. Just because we look like mild mannered office workers during the day doesn't mean we don't piss off our neighbors every night.
I knew there were people my age (38) that were stuck in the past (1988) who still listened to the old stuff ... didn't know there were so many who listened to current acts (not "nu" metal, either) ... the stuff u haveta buy on the internet :)

Check out the new IE album. Ripper is the man!!! Got it, pretty good and he kills on it!

How do I save off this whole thread? There's a lot of great music here that I need to keep a list of in case my budget ever allows for extensive recording purchasing again.

These idiots HAD to have been drinking the bong water! Where is
STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN (Who should be in the #2 spot)
JIMMIE VAUGHAN (Stevie's brother - plays in The Fabulous Thunderbirds)
ERIC CLAPTON
CARLOS SANTANA
CHET AITKINS
ROBERT JOHNSON (The Granddaddy of them all!!!!)
Sounds to me like Guitar World is going downhill.

Where is Dez Dickerson? Chuck Berry? This "list" is shortsighted and short on memory while being narrow in its vision. It seems skewed in favor of "alternative" rock with a few greats thrown in for show.

Nigel Tufnel makes the list and Carlos Santana doesn't? That's a joke right?David Gilmour didn't make it either. That's the problem with internet voting and lists :-)

this list is limited to Rock/Metal guitarists, but Warren Haynes is the hardest working guitarist in the bidness today - he's not even mentioned.
To: Smartaleck
Much better, more well rounded list.
To: Dan from Michigan
No SRV indeed! Should be in the top 5 imo.
I thought Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) should'a been in there too.

In all humility, I must say that a better list resides on my profile page.
