KERRY MYSTERY WOMAN DATED CAMPAIGN FINANCE CHIEF

**Exclusive**

A woman at the center of John Kerry intrigue dated longtime Kerry Finance Director Peter Maroney, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

When pressed by media outlets in recent week, the Kerry campaign confirmed the relationship, according to top sources.

Alex Polier on Monday denied "Internet and tabloid rumors relating to me and Senator John Kerry."

Rumors swirling around Polier ignited a behind-the-scenes campaign drama.

As first reported in this space, a serious investigation of the woman and the nature of her relationship with Sen. John Kerry has been underway at TIME magazine, ABC NEWS, the WASHINGTON POST, THE HILL and the ASSOCIATED PRESS, where the woman in question once worked.

TIME magazine's Tim Burger and ABC NEWS have developed intriguing elements to the case, sources reveal.

She would joke that she was dating the next president of the United States, says a source.

Polier's flippant remarks and flirtatious manner, according to friends, fueled the intrigue.

In an off-the-record conversation with a dozen reporters earlier this week, General Wesley Clark plainly stated: "Kerry will implode over an intern issue." [Three reporters in attendance confirm Clark made the startling comments. "This guy is going to blow up. Have you seen the NATIONAL ENQUIRER story" [on Kerry's womanizing].

The Kerry commotion is the key reason why Dean reversed his decision to drop out of the race after Wisconsin, campaign sources said.

Ok, so the campaign finance chief and Alex Polier had a relationship and it turned ugly.

Is that what happened?

This is just too weird and something is definitely fishy.

(Shades of Scumbag Clinton). Kerry:"I swear Theresa I never had sex with that man, the campaign finance chief!"

I know.

If this is the case, there is literally not one news value this story matches, and I don't see any reason for Drudge to continue it except to try to salvage his reputation to some degree.

"She dated the campaign chief, but slept with Kerry."

So that's why her dad calls Kerry the sleaze ball. Now I get it.

Curious isn't it. It's not the story that gets you it's the cover up. But in the case of Teresa, it might be the story. The look on her face in yesterday's photo said it all.

POLITICS ASIDE, the quick endorsement of John Kerry by presidential candidate emeritus Wesley Clark might best be understood as an act of contrition for two egregious sins that ironically serve as bookends for this month's degrading detour into campaign slime.

The sin of commission occurred during an astonishing, even for a rookie, judgment lapse with the gaggle of reporters covering his campaign on its final day last week. Bantering with them at length under supposedly off-the-record ground rules, Clark actually said he was still in the race because he thought Kerry's campaign was going to implode over what he inelegantly called an "intern" scandal.

A story like this does not get put out on a Thursday and take until Monday to quash. If it was not in some sense true why didn't the girl and her family speak out before now? There is something else going on here that a payoff will not cover up.

The less I realize I know about this whole affair the more I'm certain that Kerry blew up the Hindenburg.

Louise Susman Finance Chair vice chairman of Salomon Smith Barney Investment Banking formerly a senior partner at the law firm Thompson & Mitchell finance chair for Bill Bradley’s presidential campaign in 2000 ========================================================

Was not one of Howard Dean's grandparents a co-founder of Smith, Barney? If so, I wonder how much interest the Deans still have in the company?

If that is true, it is a story.

If the chick just dated his campaign chief, big deal.

Excellent find! The Boston Globe is hereby confirming that Clark made this comment to reporters.

This probably warrants its own thread. (But I'm thread happy.)

It is odd that they have stayed quiet until now.

They also did not say anything about the Sun quotes. Why not, as they would know their praise of Kerry would be in direct contradiction! That is odd.

Why couldn't she have dated (nice euphemism) both of them?

This is key. Clark wouldn't have made this statement if it was just a Kerry campaign worker having an affair. This argues for a Kerry affair and subsequent cover-up attempt.

Does this mean Kerry is into sandwhich making. Kind of like what happened to that poor waitress with Fat Ted and Dodd?
