[history]
"For the last several days I have seen Internet and tabloid rumors relating to me and Senator John Kerry. Because these stories were false, I assumed the media would ignore them. It seems that efforts to peddle these lies continue, so I feel compelled to address them. I have never had a relationship with Senator Kerry, and the rumors in the press are completely false. Whoever is spreading these rumors and allegations does not know me, but should know the pain they have caused me and my family. I am in Kenya with my fiance visiting his family, and we ask that the press respect our privacy and leave all of us alone."

This story was a setup from moment one, and Drudge (as well as others) fell for it.
There will be more of these traps laid for us in the future, too.
On the bright side, it points out the power of the alternative internet media...that a story that was never covered by the mainstream American press warrants a *denial* in that same mainstream press.

For those who don't know me I am the freeper in Kenya who has been posting stuff on the Alex polier Kenya connection. Freepers have been asking me whether a date rape allegation in the Kenyan circle of Alex's friends means anything. What it means is that Alex moved in the dodgiest circle in white Kenya. Date rape, drugs, Nigerian drugs dealers. Her fiance's father is connected to the most dodgy people in the country -- Nicholas Biwott, former President Daniel arap Moi's eminence Grise and Naushad Merali the richest Asian in the country. The young clique which Alex is engaged into is famouse for its large consumption of cocaine and it's heavy gambling.
What I am driving at is can we trust her? Why was someone like this involved with Kerry? Why did it take so long to make a denial?

Amen.

"We appreciate the way Senator Kerry has handled the situation, and intend on voting for him for president of the United States."
Amazing how many votes money can buy. They went from calling him a sleazeball to voting for him?

Now, now, put your Corporal Cueball parsing kit up on your monitor..think about what you just said:
"She says the stories are "false." I think that is a denial from her."
The only "stories" are that the the major media (ABC, AP, Wash Post, etc.) were investigating a possible affair involving John Kerry and an intern.
Also she did not deny having "sex" of any type with Kerry. It's been too long since Monicagate, have our fellow FReepers gotten soft or what??????????

Although there is an outside chance she graduated college at age 19 in 1999, it is more likely that she graduated at 22, making her 27 five years later.

I'm with you. Not a single Republican elected official should utter a peep. And FR should refrain from wild speculation. Hewitt set a great tone on this issue last week: noting the story itself and the press ignoring it as unsubstantiated allegations. He went as far as to compare the coverage of this story to that of the President's military record, noting the voracity of their exploration of the President's background. But, he stayed away from the actual allegations as the subject of commentary and when Kerry issued a denial, Hewitt said 'that's it then.' The Kerry part of the story was over. Very shrewd response, IMO.
This story has nothing to do with Kerry's character (as yet) and everything to do with that of the mainstream press and that is where the focus should be directed. Kerry's alleged infidelity is irrelevant. The Press infidelity to their Constitutional chastity is what should be of tremendous concern here... and more reprehensible when we note that they screw themsleves in the process cheating on America.

I totally disagree. You must understand that there are TWO AND A HALF GENERATIONS who don't even know who Jane Fonda is and whose only "war" in their memory was the Gulf War. This is NOT going to hurt Kerry.

This isn't going to go away by a Kerry campaign-crafted denial of a "relationship".

Rush just brought up a very interesting point. Why would the the father of Ms. Polier say at the end of his statement that he was going to vote for Kerry for President. This does not sound like a father, who called Kerry a sleaseball, just a few days ago. Reads more like a PR release from the Kerry camp. You have to wonder if this is not the end of the story. Maybe the Polier's were made an offer they could not refuse.

[this matter] deserves to be simply dropped.
Yes. And, what I think is even more frightening about Kerry than the Fonda photo or non-photo, was Kerry's inability last night in the debate to answer yes or no to the question of does he take responsibility for his vote on Iraq?
Someone who squirms as much as he did on that particular point is not a person I want to see in the Oval Office.
You make a decision, you should defend it, and not blame someone else for what you yourself did. I was amazed how many tv pundits missed that part of the debate and failed to mention the poor performance on Kerry's part.
