I see that you like to politicize an argument too. Well, the right has done some it fair share of both fear mongering and robbery. Remember Republicans control your purse-strings. As for PROPOSALS, digging yourself out of a hole cannot be considered advancement on immigration policy. Maybe for you it's all about the PARTY? You can fall on a sword for this but to me, on all angles, just plain rhetoric.

A "terror".... kay. Actually, I'm more afraid of terrorist cells comprised of Muslim extremists.

You may want to rethink that. I used to work as a medical missionary in East Africa, and the rampant disease there is horrifying.

Lepers with no fingers and collapsed noses, begging on every street corner. People with running sores covering their bodies. Patients with holes in their faces the size of half dollars, oozing with pus, because they couldn't afford proper dental care. Mass graves full of cholera victims. TB and AIDS cases everywhere. Packs of dogs infected with rabies allowed to roam freely.

One member of my team was bitten by a rabid dog. A half dozen of us contracted malaria (in spite of religiously taking Larium) and became miserably ill.

Trust me, there will be terror and plenty of it if third world diseases gain a foothold in this country. Maybe, it's one of those things you really have to see to believe; something that just doesn't quite register as a reality to the American mind until you're standing in the midst of it.

Right now, we fear cancer and heart disease. That's plenty enough. Do we really want to lengthen the list? Cancer, heart disease, ebola, cholera, TB, hepatitis, yellow fever, leprosy, typhoid, SARS, lassa fever, changas' disease, meningococcal meningitis, etc. etc. etc....

That was my quote on a twist against Bush's speech. I'm referencing Federal policy, not California. When the (formerly) INS supports illegals to come here with constitutional legality under "Equal Protection" clauses you have immigration policy disaster. Bush was right, in theory, to sever the INS, which some employees helped illegal immigration and the others deported them! But then in essence just divided them in two buildings, and adding admin staff to the federal budget! Hopefully DHS can sort this out!

If these diseases are so widespread as to constitute a real danger to our society from immigration, why do we allow Americans to travel to Mexico? Tourists might actually be exposed to these "poor" people working as bus-boys and hotel maids, yeeks!

Because, prior to leaving America for a third world destination, you're supposed to go to a travel clinic and receive a series of vaccinations.

Yep. One terror act against our infrastructure (coal plant)may cause a hundred lives and 20 million dollars, say, of mostly private money and disrupted public power supply. Importing preventable communicable disease costs thousands of lives and millions in public funds yearly. With a national health epidemic in the populated areas, try your daily commute without breathing someone else's air!

Also, because we (USA) travel at our own risk and take precaution. The unhealthy that migrate to the US don't care of your health. They just assume to spit, cough and bleed. Mostly when handling you food.

You people have no idea how the system works. There is big money to be made by turning a blind eye to illness. Search this site for "chronic illness" and destroying political parties. I can give you all enough information to start a revolution if you would just email it to everyone you know and make it an issue in this election.

Everyone on these threads needs to focus on action instead of aggravation. Take my info and put it out there.

A good start, and the only logical one would be to seal off our borders between legal border crossings.....

Instead of dying in Iraq, our military should be on our borders defending us against this invasion. We are now fighting a different kind of war, one where the enemy is infiltrating our country.

It is simple to treat the problem of illegals: deport them, place fines and jail time on anyone who hires them, and deny them access to welfare, the military, schools and other perks.
