We've dialed Washington, and all we get is a "busy" signal, followed by the demand we legalise the invaders and stop whining!

One thing Krauthammer doesn't touch on in his what do we do in a unipolar world article is: what happens if the "unipole" implodes. Given the erosion of the rule of law in America and what I would say is a marked acceleration of same this isn't all that farfetched, and it is complicated by the relative thiness of our military power. "Interesting times" ahead or business as usual--who the heck knows?
