NC ALERT: Leftist "anti-war" rally in Fayetteville planned for March 20, 2004
NC Peace Hub ^

It seems that the usual suspects (United for Peace and Justice, International ANSWER, National Lawyers Guild, International Socialists, Muslim American Society, etc.) have had some difficulty amassing the requisite number of sheep to do another "Mass March on Washington," so they are instead planning multiple smaller events across the country on March 20th.
Heads-up North Carolina FReepers - they are coming to Fayetteville, NC.
From NCPeaceHub's website, here is their announcement:
March 20th: THE WORLD STILL SAYS NO TO WAR
Fayetteville, North Carolina- 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Local: www.Ncpeacehub.org National: www.unitedforpeace.org
One year ago on February 15th, 2003, millions of people took to the streets to say no to the impending war on Iraq. On March 20th, 2004, the one year anniversary of the U.S. Invasion of Iraq, people from around North Carolina and the South will march and rally in Fayetteville to demand Real Support for the Troops: Money for Jobs and Education, not War and Occupation. Sponsored by Military Families Speak Out, Veterans for Peace, United for Peace and Justice and over 100 local peace & justice organizations, the March and rally on March 20th in Fayetteville is part of a global day of action to say: The World Still Says No to War. Organizers are seeking endorsements, donations, peacekeepers and other volunteers. Durham and Chapel Hill bus tickets are available from the Regulator Books, the Know Bookstore, and Internationalist Books. More information is available on the web at www.NCpeacehub.org.

I would suggest either Paltalk or Freeper.org.
To: Constitution Day
As you both know, I like to "talk" and hate typing so I am for Paltalk. We can do both at Paltalk, but we do need to get together asap as I just discovered this is February and it's the 19th!!!!!!!

Paltalk it is, then.
But as I said
earlier in the thread, I can't let it interfere with my work schedule.
Mykdsmom and I were really burned out from organizing the previous rally, too... but that's a story for another time.

Don't worry CD, we won't let it interfere with your work UNLESS you're gonna try to work on Mar. 20th. LOL!
We'll do whatever needs to be done and we'll make most of the signs that day. See? Lot's of help this time.

Come on back for a visit (on Mar. 20th). I have a feeling that anyone who is there will be part of history.

They don't care what stage the war is in; They just want to humiliate the families of our troops and our Commander in Chief.
It really is low of them to pick on the families when their spouses and parents are not here to protect them. They love scaring kids, too.

As a former Tarheel, I am sorely tempted to cruise down for the March 20th event. Can you put me on your ping list so I will know where to find you all on that Saturday?
It sounds like there will be be some protestors from the Richmond area heading your way. One of them will probably be Larry Syverson who goes to all the anti-war/anti-Bush demos with pictures of his two sons who serve in the Army. His sign says something like "No oil for my sons blood". His picture is all over the web if you do a search. What is so reprehensible is he also posts on the local Indy Media Site from time to time. This is the same website that posts articles rejoicing in the killing of US soldiers!
I can personally vouch for tglstakoma's MOABs. They are awesome.

BTTT for NC FReepers!
(And Virginians thinking about a road trip!)
Hi Flora! I'm either up late or up early, I can't decide which...
Since I had already taken the weekend off work, and since I have a couple of MOABs sitting around, and since NC was my home for a few years, I'm pretty much decided on making the drive down on the 20th. (Only 1 month away!)
The lefties deserve a BIG welcoming party when they arrive in Fayetteville.

"The lefties deserve a BIG welcoming party when they arrive in Fayetteville."
Oh they do indeed! Their "concern" for our troops is overwhelming, isn't it?
I'm ready for a road trip, too! I would be proud to support our troops in Fayetteville. Afterwards, I'm thinking of making a pilgrimage to Red Springs to pay my respects and take a few pictures of the Flora McDonald statue there.
Keep me posted. It will be good to see you again.

We had a DC Chapter meeting today, and I brought up the Fayetteville anti-war march to those in attendance. Now that we know cANSWER has pulled out of their "massive" rally here in DC on that day, some of the members are planning on going up to NY City to FReep the lefties there, but some others also expressed an interest in making a road trip down your way for the festivities there. I will ping the full DC chapter membership to this thread momentarily...
