NC ALERT: Leftist "anti-war" rally in Fayetteville planned for March 20, 2004

It seems that the usual suspects (United for Peace and Justice, International ANSWER, National Lawyers Guild, International Socialists, Muslim American Society, etc.) have had some difficulty amassing the requisite number of sheep to do another "Mass March on Washington," so they are instead planning multiple smaller events across the country on March 20th.
Heads-up North Carolina FReepers - they are coming to Fayetteville, NC.
From NCPeaceHub's website, here is their announcement:
March 20th: THE WORLD STILL SAYS NO TO WAR
Fayetteville, North Carolina- 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Local: www.Ncpeacehub.org National: www.unitedforpeace.org
One year ago on February 15th, 2003, millions of people took to the streets to say no to the impending war on Iraq. On March 20th, 2004, the one year anniversary of the U.S. Invasion of Iraq, people from around North Carolina and the South will march and rally in Fayetteville to demand Real Support for the Troops: Money for Jobs and Education, not War and Occupation. Sponsored by Military Families Speak Out, Veterans for Peace, United for Peace and Justice and over 100 local peace & justice organizations, the March and rally on March 20th in Fayetteville is part of a global day of action to say: The World Still Says No to War. Organizers are seeking endorsements, donations, peacekeepers and other volunteers. Durham and Chapel Hill bus tickets are available from the Regulator Books, the Know Bookstore, and Internationalist Books. More information is available on the web at www.NCpeacehub.org.

Do you need rooms or will your family put you up? Have you asked your family to recruit their friends and neighbors?
The goal is to out number them 10 to 1.

I would bet that our former council person, Anne Fogleman, will be out there with all the antis. She went to one of the demonstrations last year in Washington and was out holding her sign every Wednesday afternoon as a peacenik. The local Rolling Thunder guys made signs for all of the troop supporters. It was fun last spring getting to get out and vent every week against the useful idiots. Keep me posted on where this demonstration will be taking place here in Fayetteville and I will be there. I still have my signs from last year. I can bring my hubby with his medals too.

That might not be a bad idea for the out-of-towners.

Bert, at this point I'm not sure who is in Fayetteville. I will have to read back over the thread to find out. Hopefully whomever is there will give us a map and details of where to meet.
Looking forward to seeing you again.

Seems it didnt go off as planned, or not enough people showed up...
If it had, you would have seen something
-HERE-.
Look in the
"National Politics" section, and you will see a group of hateful leftist frothing-at-the-mouth types like you have yet to see before.
Funny how they live here in Fayette-nam...

As of this morning, count me plus three coming down for the 20th. Will also be bringing some of my favorite signs and supplies, MOABs (Mother Of All Banners) - maybe a new one/message, too.
Do you guys have "Dollar Bill's" stores down there? If so, take a look in their kids toy section... I found some plastic megaphones, that work great; very low tech - no batteries required.
similar to these, but with strings to hang over shoulders.

BUMPIN' ALONG HERE!
Am definitely interested in a hotel room (preferably cheap) and near the proposed FReep location.
To: Flora McDonald
As soon as our "location" is finalized, I will hotel shop. We'll get the best for the least! (I'll probably go check it out myself so that I can communicate it effectively.)

What didn't go as planned? This event will not happen until Mar 20th, and we hope to see you there!
(Some sick people you got as neighbors down there. Do they pick Fayetteville on purpose just to torture the troops and the families?)

I had a little free time this evening, so in an effort to know the enemy I did some Googling on the NC "Peace" march organizers. Why heck, they're just plain folk. All they want is peace, and for everyone to get along...
Theresa ElAmin, "Statewide Facilitator" for the lefties' March/rally against America (as seen in a photo from the 1999 "Labor Notes" conference in Philadelphia where she presented attendees with a petition for a "new, fair trial" for cop-killer Mumia Abu Jamal.
An interview in Socialist Worker Online - with Lou Plummer, Fayetteville Coordinator for the march/rally against America. (Sorry, I couldn't find a photo of this winner)
Ajamu Dillahunt, Black Solidarity Against the War, leads the Program, Speakers, Performers etc. working committee for the march/rally Against America.
For a quick giggle, here's an announcement for a January 2004 workshop, posted on NC IndyMedia by Liz Seymour, who is in charge of the Media working committee for the march/rally against America. The subject of that workshop? "mental health issues within the anarchist community..."

ping to you, bigg hurtt. Pass the word along up that way, and down NC way, too. The lefties plan some psy-war on military families in Ft. Bragg area, but FReepers will be there to greet 'em. Road trip!

Was just checking out the other thread and it looks as though they have dropped the Fayetteville protest off and are concentrating on NYC.
I saw where Charlotte is still on though. Do y'all have any further information?
Feminine intutition says that they are afraid to go up against the military...
