Dispel the "Kerry as-War-Hero" Myth Right Now!  (CLICK HERE)

In case nobody noticed, I should point out that almost every time we have a Media FReep -- e.g. the Imminence Myth or the Bush Recession Myth -- the media shuts up about the topic for a while (probably because they know they've been caught).

Anyway, there is an important myth that needs to be dispelled right now -- the myth that Kerry is a War Hero.  Click here if you don't know why this is a myth.

Here are three steps you can take to help dispel the myth.

1)  Open the "Write for W" window by clicking HERE.

Make sure to enter your ZipCode in the top box and press enter.  You will see a list of local papers.  Check off every paper on the list.  Then, fill in all the personal information and write an email.  If you don't have time, or need an idea as far as what to write, you can look at this sample email:

A person cannot be both a War Hero and a War Criminal.  John Kerry is not a War Hero, as he, himself, has admitted that he committed war crimes.  On Meet the Press on May 6, 2001, Tim Russert played John Kerry an audio tape from April 18, 1971, where Kerry was asked whether he committed war crimes in Vietnam.  Kerry’s response, on the 1971 tape, was:

I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions. . .

Therefore, having admitted to committing war crimes, it is disingenuous for Kerry to now claim the mantle of “Hero.”  It is even more disingenuous for the media to keep perpetuating the “Hero” myth.

Go ahead and send it!

2)  Fox News tends to listen to reason.  So, by all means, send them this email as well (if you need semicolons instead of commas, you can do it by hand or automatically find-replace in Word:

If enough people call them with interest, they might actually do a non-editorial news story on the subject. They are pretty good (and owned by NewsCorp).

Nice job, WOSG! Everyone should try to send the email too all of the outlets you mentioned."

Thanks.... Just today, I sent 25 letters to the editor on a particular theme - today was Iraq war. Here below is the content (critique on it is welcome)...

Challenge for other freepers: Show us your letter and tell us how many newspapers you send it to. IMHO, it doesnt hurt to send it to other places besides your home town. They are rarely printed, but it lets them know what people are thinking. 1 hour doing that can make a much bigger help to conservative causes than one hour lurking on FR. You can spend about 1 hour a month and have a very solid positive impact with your efforts. Try to keep letters under 100 words (I have trouble with that!).... JMHO.

The letter: Editor:

The U.S. was right to liberate the Iraqi people from Saddam Hussein's reign of terror. We freed Saddam's victims and unearthed his killing fields. We closed Saddam's terrorist camps (like Salman Pak) and ended his funding and aiding of terrorists (like Ansar Al-Islam). We stopped his dangerous WMD developments, e.g., bioweapons and missiles. We ended the 'oil-for-corruption' program that supported Saddam's sycophants worldwide. And our success in Iraq led countries like Libya to come clean on WMDs.

Saddam killed over half a million of his own people. Overthrowing and capturing Saddam has given Iraq a chance for freedom and democracy, and set the entire Arab world in a course away from tyranny towards moderation. This certainly will help us win the war on terror and advance freedom worldwide.

Never in our history has such a well-justified and successful liberation effort been so maligned and second-guessed.

Regards, XXXX

okay my letter ...

What a joke "Hardball" has become. It used to be interesting, but has taken a hard left turn this campaign season.

Here is a column below that should be required reading for dolts who are regulars like, well, like Laurence O'Donnell.
And It wouldn't for Chris Matthews to get educated too on this, although he clearly is starting to
let anti-Bush knee jerking take over his 'talking points'.
Pushing the tired old lies about Bush AWOL as if that phony charge was "news" , since when is a smear
from the Democrat party to treated as news and not the defecation-on-the-doorstep that it really is?
And on the other hand, without having a fact-basd discussion on Kerry's smearing of the military when he was an anti-war activist.
You had Laurence dismissing with a "well 90% of Americans have a particular conclusion". Excuse me,
but 90% of American do *not* think the US military was engaged in wide-scale atrocities and war crimes!

It's bad enough when you have bad opinions, but the facts are all wrong too.
You need a guy like Vietnam veteran Ted Sampley on the show to straighten out the Kerry butt kissers!
See the column below: Kerry absolutely 100% defamed the military in 1971. A full 12 months into the presidential
campaign, and he has yet to be challenged on this - at all.

Sorry, Mr Matthews, your show is becoming a unwatchable as Donahue ...

NO... This is absolutely a quote from JOHN KERRY not Bob Kerry. Russert says this in the interview.

You are correct. Thanks.

And your comments are particularly timely in this overall discussion of Bob Kerrey. And I'd like for you to listen to those with our audience... (emphasis added)

Just got off the phone. No political reporters were available, but the receptionist listened and wrote down the basics of the email as I recited it to her. She said she would forward the info on to the "Washington Bureau", and commented that "Maybe they can find a transcript of the interview".
