Kerry, Moby, the DNC, the Free Republic, and the new way to tame the right.

The Dems are doing something interesting here.

Recently we've had:

1) The DNC gives the press something silly to chase with the AWOL story.

2) Kerry has a character problem and needs to deal with it. Somebody "dumps" the Kerry dirt to Drudge (assume for the moment it was the DNC or Kerry Campaign through a messenger like Clark).

3) Moby puts the internet on notice to watch out for Soviet-like disinformation from left wing seminar posters.

4) O'Reilly and others get paranoid refusing to stoop low into the dirt.

5) Kerry falls back to the Clinton standard "Deny, Deny, Deny and blame it on the Republicans"
"...Mr. Kerry said he is expecting early and frequent attacks from Republicans, and that his record and character will stand the test. He told host Don Imus of the call-in interview radio show "Imus in the Morning" that he knows "exactly where these guys are going to go and I'm ready for it......"

Analysis

#5 is the same-old-same-old for the Dems as is #2.

They learned their lesson when Clinton got ravaged by the internet (Drudge) and talk radio. They've been honing their skills with seminar callers to talk radio (actually teaching people how to get past call screeners by acting like a Republican - "I've voted Republican all my life and Reagan is my idol, but lately....")

So...if your a Dem - how to deal with the internet? Basically the same way with a twist......they leak out the "Moby thing" (ever wonder why the Moby story had "legs") putting all of us on guard for disinformation paranoia.

There may be another tactic yet to come......my guess is a number of false stories that the press chases to dead ends and then assumes every leak is a Republican dirty trick. This may backfire, but I don't think anyone in the media will investigate the DNC tactics.

......

So what do we do about it?

In my view....just be aware of it as disinformation tactics....Lefties will continue to get flamed in less than 10 posts.....here on the Free Republic (we're good at that)....but it's not the Free Republic I'm worried about...

Thoughts?????

IMHO the entire right should shut up and hope that Kerry gets nominated.

My thought is not to expect much or hope for much from the sex story. Leave it to the press. They are hyenas. If there is blood there, they'll sniff it out and be driven crazy by it. Republicans and conservatives should stay away from the story as much as possible. Which is how we should have handled the Clinton thing. If it had just been the press going after Clinton, I think the outcome would have been the same (he would have stayed in office) but the negative consequences to the RATS would have been stronger (Gore would have gotten fewer votes).

We should keep our collective cool on this one.

Please elaborate on the Moby thing.

As I recall reading yesterday, Moby (who is a supposed singer)"encouraged" the use of disinformation on the internet, such as spreading rumours about Bush paying for a woman to have an abortion in his early years.

I have my eye on a new illegal immigration hater.Very agreeable with many here, but I notice some things that puzzle me.I know two places eyebrows were raised. That was going to be a ploy of Moby..pick out an issue that's divisive among Conservatives, against Bush and hone in on it.Very hard to detect.

Agreed. Let the press sniff out the sex thing -- The Rats turned it into "just sex" the last time to hide the real issues. Repubs if they have to say anything should say something like "his personal life is not the issue, afterall it's not like he lied under oath. What's important here is a plan on handling the future. President Bush has laid out a bold plan to protect Americans, help people find jobs in the private sector rather than made up work dependent on higher taxes, ... insert more talking points here.

For reference:

Moby's anti-Bush tricks

"You target his natural constituencies," says the Grammy-nominated techno-wizard. "For example, you can go on all the pro-life chat rooms and say you're an outraged right-wing voter and that you know that George Bush drove an ex-girlfriend to an abortion clinic and paid for her to get an abortion.

Leftist pys-ops.

So now we have liberal punks like Moby encouraging LYING, while Al Franken writes books about how all conservatives lie. Meanwhile, overseas (and to some extent right here at home) we're fighting a religious war against an enemy which encourages lying if it's for the cause of furthering Islam.

Funny how they're all united in the end.

Lying is a form of taking responsibility for nothing. It is practiced by all politicians to further their goals. As it increases the power of the people to govern themselves is diminished. This is the reason our country is on a downhill slide.

True. I wish the major media in reporting this story would point out that leftists must do this because they cannot pursuade or win on the issues. They must use disinfo, lies, deceit. As Ann Coulter said, dems cannot win by being honest and saying, "We want to kill babies and raise taxes."

I’m a little wary of the Kerry infidelity charge. Even if true, I think this is the wrong avenue of attack.

There are enough slanderous statements of Duba by the Democratic nominee, the last Democratic nominee and the head of the DNC to throw back at them and successfully paint them as the freek’n nutcase hate mongers that they are. No need to return to Monica. The nation’s tired of that, and it makes us look like a cluster of sexually repressed holier than thou hate mongers (which a few of us are).

Slam these nimrods with their own words and watch them crawl! They have no excuse for what they’ve done to slander an honest commander and chief for their own political gain. Stay on target with just that and don’t exposing our flank with the distraction of defending sexual police allegations from this stupid juvenile Kerry infidelity BS! It’s sex, it’ll leak out on its own. Let’s not peruse it. Focus on their real crimes.
