John Kerry denies report of extramarital affair with young woman
Updated at 19:54 on February 13, 2004, EST.
WASHINGTON (CP) - Democratic presidential front-runner John Kerry has denied an allegation that surfaced this week about an extramarital relationship with a young woman.
Kerry told an MSNBC radio station Friday: "There is nothing to report, nothing to talk about. There's nothing there. There's no story."
Later, on the campaign trail in Madison, Wis., Kerry told reporters: "I just deny it categorically. It's rumour. It's untrue. Period."
Kerry said it was the last time he intended to speak about the matter.
The report was carried by Internet website operator Matt Drudge, who broke the Monica Lewinsky scandal involving former president Bill Clinton.
The Drudge site said Thursday that Kerry had a two-year relationship, beginning in early 2001, with a young woman who has since left the country.
The Massachusetts senator is married to Teresa Heinz Kerry, heiress to the ketchup-producing fortune.

Kerry said it was the last time he intended to speak about the matter.
Oooops...that line didn't work for Clinton.
To: ambrose
When he denies having an affair with a young woman, how young is "young"? And for that matter, I don't recall the story saying anything about a "young" woman.

So he has categorically denied having an affair and says it is rumor.
Next move - Drudge.

Well, now, not so fast. He has catergorically denied it. So it depends on the meaning of it.
Got to hand it to him. He's invented a new one.

Whats next? It depends on what the meaning of the word "is" is?
He'll talk about it again.
His ass is on the line with the wife.

I know the American sheeple were willing to elect Clintoon twice, even with the sexual allegations but I'm wondering if they would want to go through this crap again with another philanderer.
Well . . . probably, after all, they are sheeple.
To: ambrose
Big mistake by Kerry. No candidate can just say "I'm not going to discuss it" and get away with it if there is any meat to it. That is just an arrogant newbie mistake. If I were a Democrat, now is the time to start sweating.
To: KellyAdmirer
Well, that is assuming there is something there.

Peach said: "Next move - Drudge."
Why not "next move - Kerry"?
Such a lie by Drudge could result in a very expensive lawsuit. Kerry should be able to make the case that this damages his run for the White House and put Drudge out of business.
To: William Tell
Huh? Clearly, I think Kerry is lying and the next move is for Drudge to expose the lie, since the mainstream press is not reporting on the story.
Why do I think Kerry is lying, you may ask?
Al Gore rejected Kerry as a running mate because of Kerry's bimbo problem, which was well known in Washington.
Chris Lehane has shopped this story around for weeks, according to the Congressional Weekly (I think that's the name of the organization; report was on FR earlier today and last night).
Wesley Clark told 3 reporters about this last week and when they confronted him with that info yesterday he yelled at them that it was "off the record."
The woman has been named in the British press and other press. Her parents have spoken. She has been spirited away to Africa.
Doesn't sound like an innocent man to me.
But he has said he is innocent and that the report is a lie, a rumor. Hence, the next step is Drudge's.
