The administration rolled out its top immigration officials and several senior Republican senators yesterday to endorse publicly a guest-worker program offered by President Bush that could give legal status to the 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens now in the United States.

The word "treason" has a specific meaning. GWB has done more thus far, in the area of increased border protection than any previous administration.

Your words are out of line and a misrepresentation of the facts.

If you had watched the hearing you would know that the range of proposals stretched from tinkering with the current law to trash canning the entire thing and starting over from scratch!

I'm afraid no one can explain other than the ruling elite of both parties want to satisfy the demand for low wage workers.

The Democrats see illegals as future dem voters, union paying members that they control through incremental increases in minimum wage, hence more dues and contributions to dem candidates.

Some Republicans see them as low wage workers that will help provide corporations with cheap labor needed to sustain a positive bottomline.

I have seen what the uncontrolled illegal immigration has done to the economy of California by way of education and healthcare. I have seen the politicians there trash the People's iniative 187.

In history, immigrants were admitted legally for the purpose of supplying labor to industry but it was always controlled, turned on and then off. In the past recent decades, this control has been abandoned because it serves a narrow but powerful elite political class and their backers.

You couldn't prove it where I live. Illegal alien traffic is up 114% over this time last year and last year's level sucked.

The Border Patrol is undermanned and under-equipped for the job they are trying to do. So why does Dubya's FY 2005 proposed budget cut the Border Patrol's funding by $130 million?

Illegal immigrants already in the United States and people still in their home countries would be matched with employers. - Nothing said about American Citizens.

Since September 11, 2001, the Border Patrol has increased the number of agents from 9,788 to 10,835 as of December 1, 2003 - Wow, almost 1,100, and during WAR TIME even!

"You can extend it for a significant period of time," said Eduardo Aguirre, director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Currently, undocumented immigrants who have left the United States are prohibited from re-entering America legally for three to 10 years. Aguirre said that many of the immigrants in the United States would have been in the country illegally long enough to be subject to the re-entry prohibitions.
"I would suggest that ought to be waived," Aguirre said

I do not have to, it is a fact regardless of what you see.

Since INS was folded into HS, the border has indeed been strenghtened,

Bush has said, that much more needs to be done and legislation must be written and funded by congress to do just that.

certainly everyone has a right to their opinions.

Expressing those opinions does have limitations however.

I am not the expression police, but I personally find some adjectives/adverbs, when used against people who in no way are deserving of such to be over the line.

Words like treason are not interchangeable with A'hole or other expressions. They have a very specific meaning and carry a death penalty. It is a legal term.

I would be careful when using these types of words.
