[history]
'Bush and I were lieutenants'
George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

A free press is obligated to dig and probe for the truth. Sure. And the evidence is that they've been more involved in fabricating a story than looking for evidence. Most of what they have said has been grossly twisted.

Has anyone in the Bush adminstration (in the past 9 months) quoted or refered to Col. William Campenni? If this is such "Gold" - why hasn't the administration been trumpeting these statements?
Good questions..... my guess is that they will let the record speak for itself and any others that so choose to join in do so by themselves.... Outside of the military record it's not necessary for the President to bring in others to his defense.
This is a hit topic used during the Democrat Primary by the candidates to try and get an upper hand on each other.... especially the two military ones..... It is good that this has been beat to death before the actual campaign has officially started... President Bush will be remembered more by his leadership as CinC after 911 than some events of 30 years ago. Witness Kerry's anti-war stances, etc. It again takes one more issue off the table even though it was used during the 2000 Republican Primary to no avail.

I do not know how he made his money, because he is SO out of touch with the real world of Americans. He married rich women.

In today's Washington Times, there is a story about a girl young George W. Bush dated while in Alabma. Emily Marks Curtis said yesterday that she dated GWB while he was in Alabama and after a few weeks when he was back in Texas, he called her and said he was returning to Alabama for a couple of weeks to make up some National Guard drills he had missed. She said he rented an apartment for a couple of weeks in Montgomery and they met for dinner 2 or 3 times while he was there. She said she didn't personally see him come or go to the drills, but he wasn't in Alabama for any other reason.

Forwarded to my local talk radio station, www.wsba910.com's Gary Sutton Show. He's on right before Rush and Sean. He'll deal with it on Thursday, and was defending GWB during his 3hrs, 9am-12noon, today.
Thanks for the ammo, Petronski!

What is amusing is Wallace echoed Kerry's spokeswoman almost word for word from yesterday.

"...he said, if you want to talk about Jane Fonda and John Kerry (Fox had put the picture up), then the National Guard issue will not go away." I think we make out a lot better then, if both issues remain at the forefront. I believe Kerry's anti-war behavior was reprehensible and make an interesting point about Kerry's character. Sure, Kerry had every right to take the stands he did, but we've got every right to question his judgement.

As nice as it would be to believe that the function of the press is going after and publishing the truth, this is sadly far from the truth. The press, in this day in age, is to primarily serve as advertising, making a profit, and maybe serve as a mouthpiece for those who are paying the bills.
There is but a few in the independent press, who are committed to serving the greater good, but they are outnumbered 100-1.
There is no problem asking questions, and trying to probe for answers, but when the answers are adequate, why is there a need to manipulate it for the people who it would harm, unless it was informationally harmful to those in the know.
