'Bush and I were lieutenants'
George Bush and I were lieutenants and pilots in the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron (FIS), Texas Air National Guard (ANG) from 1970 to 1971. We had the same flight and squadron commanders (Maj. William Harris and Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, both now deceased). While we were not part of the same social circle outside the base, we were in the same fraternity of fighter pilots, and proudly wore the same squadron patch.

Finally, the Kerrys, Moores and McAuliffes are casting a terrible slander on those who served in the Guard, then and now. Include the whole military with that. Just like with CXlinton and Gore the vote of the guard and military is considered to be disposable. Should the Oval Office be returned to the Democrats the military will become disposable and it funds will go to domestic and foreign policy rat holes.

Before I was born my mother married a pilot during the war (WW2)He flew cargo missions stateside and unfortunately his plane went down and he was killed ..Does anyone want to argue that because he wasn't in the theater of war he did less for his country? Anyone in a plane runs the risk of death, anyone in a jeep or on a motorcycle "serves "in his own way ...

Otherwise we should just nationalize the press and make it a mouthpiece of the government. Surely you don't want that do you?No. Nor do I want a press that is a mouthpiece for the DNC, and that's what we have now.

Lurch is already trying to back away from this false AWOL accusation.
He may be, but his mouthpiece, Harold Ford, was wailing away on this stuff on this mornings Fox and Friends....they ain't gonna let go of it.

So your argument comes down to an ad hominem attack on me does it? Am I wrong?
To: Coop
Not only that, but Dems inclined to vote for Dubya probably didn't bother voting yesterday Not necessarily true. I voted for Dr. Demento yesterday.
I did hear only 10% of eligible voters turned out yesterday in Virginia. Dismal. If Kerry's so wonderful, you'd think there would have been more enthusiastic turnout.

Our armed forces should be vigilant that their votes aren't challenged in November. I bet the dems have already lined up their shill attorneys to show up in critical precincts. They will try to steal the next election imo. What have they got to lose?

Bump for Veterans! I did active duty in the USN, but my father was in the ANG for 25 years. From conversations with him, Col. Campenni is right on target. President Bush knows that there are many thousands of voters like you and your father. He does not need to come out and swat at every accusation by Dems. It would be as productive as hitting the gophers in the carnival game as they pop up.

Hey DUhers, you said you wanted confirmation from someone he served with. Ya got it. Now shaddup and get ready to lose in November.
To: RichardW
Yes you are wrong, an ad hominim attack is without merit. You blithely claim the press is supposed to dig for the truth. Yet this isuue was vetted in 2000 and it is not news yet the media is digging like hell to make it stick and you expect that the press will do the right thing. If you are not a DU troll then consider membership and keep posting here because its fun to shoot arrows at you.

"their" news is "our" old news! The picture NYC Republican is referring to (Fonda-Kerry) was on FR two days ago. I think a FReeper found it in someone's archives and put it up. Since then, its been around the world.
At least the media is trying to keep up. This only took two days to make headlines. The Sore-Loserman sign took a week.

IMO, medals are not that important to me. That is not the measure of leadership or capablity. I have seen many people in my 8 yrs in the navy who have a chestful of medals and couldn't use a screwdriver to save their lives. I have also seen many who had one or two and were always the first called on to complete a job.

I agree that much of the press is liberal. No question about that. And the public has rightly turned away from much of for that reason. But we have alternatives to turn to. We've had Rush for what -- 15 years or so? Fox, Hannity, G. Gordon, most of talk radio is conservative, is it not? All the liberal programs have flopped. But if we are to be true to our ideals, we must always look at ourselves to ensure that we don't become the monster ourselves.
