IMO, medals are not that important to me. That is not the measure of leadership or capablity. I have seen many people in my 8 yrs in the navy who have a chestful of medals and couldn't use a screwdriver to save their lives. I have also seen many who had one or two and were always the first called on to complete a job.

IMO, medals are not that important to me.A cynic once said, "stay away from the guys with a chest full of medals. They're too dangerous to stand next to. But find the guys wearing the unit citations, those guys are professionals who can keep you alive."

Seems like the cynic might have been onto something. (no offense to those freepers holding any personal citations for valor).
