[history]
In releasing pay records and other previously unavailable documents, the White House hopefully has put to rest the issue of President Bush's Vietnam-era service in the Air National Guard.
"These documents clearly show that the president fulfilled his duties," said White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan.

the White House hopefully has put to rest the issue of President Bush's Vietnam-era service in the Air National Guard. Oh, yeah? Bush says he can't remember what he ate for breakfast on the morning of June 24, 1972! Nor can he say what was for supper that night, or what TV show he watched!

After Clinton, imagine the democrats taking a republican to task on a morals issue. Pathetic!
To: DoughtyOne
lol -- how true. Which is why the White House is hoping leading Democrats continue to beat this dead horse.

These filthy DemoScum traitors are giving all of us a little wake-up call.
They are out to destroy our civilization and will stop at nothing to accomplish their goals. It is going to be a long road to November. That they're pulling this in *February* says a lot about just how ugly things will become.

That they're pulling this in *February* says a lot about just how ugly things will become. It also says a lot about just how desperate things have become for them. It's been Kerry! Kerry! Kerry! in the rah-rah media for weeks, yet Bush's numbers are inching up again, and if Osama is captured before November, it's all over for 'em.
To: JohnHuang2
I'm sure the Kerry/Fonda 2004 ticket will oblige. Heh heh heh...
To: ambrose
I'm sure that's true.

Do you think the press will let this rest until someone recalls having encountered George Bush, who was then the son of the U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., in Alabama in 1972 ? Just a question, not needling. You indicated you were being sarcastic in your post, but I'd be interested to know if you think the press will not continue to press this matter. My view is that they will do so right up to, and possibly even including the presidential debates. Once the press got their teeth into Richard Nixon's pant leg, they didn't let up until they were chewing on the bone. Woodward said on Larry King's program last night that he didn't think the story would continue to be pursued for long, but I find it hard to believe that Woodward himself wouldn't have pursued it when he was younger, and when, with Bernstein, he was relentless in his pursuit of Nixon in that same year, 1972. Now living in opulence as a result of his early success in bringing down a U.S. president, Woodward was an inspiration to his parasitic colleagues in the press to aspire to his present lifestyle -- by pursuing the same course that brought Woodward a measure of wealth that is well beyond his desserts.

I know that most of the info-babes have to read what's in front of them, but it's just so damned irritating to hear skeptical comments about the president's military record from people who were probably never near a uniform. Bush is a man who not only served his time in the military but flew a jet plane. To hear these snotty comments from lib media whores is disgusting. Of course you'll won't see that picture of Kerry prattling about Vietnam with the Vietcong flag in the background on the Big Three or any of the toady lib cable channels like CNN or MSNBC.

Yah, the Press Corps was embarassing to watch. It was obvious that they had decided not to be satisfied with the information Scott McClennen released to them.
Alot of the questions were just sophomoric.
It was kind of like a case of "Pull down your skirt, dear ... your agenda is showing ...."

The press are blathering idiots who are following someones socialist agenda. I just want to know who's agenda it is.
I really liked the press better when they made up stories.

I really liked the press better when they made up stories. This is a made-up story, and one that has been resolved. There was no one who remembered Bush NOT doing his service, merely some imperfect recordkeeping that doesn't detail every day he served, and some people who did not recall whethere they saw him or not.

Not only do they want him to account for his time thirty years ago, they want witnesses that remember seeing him eating breakfast and who are willing to swear to seeing him watch TV. I have trouble remembering where I was last week.
Even if someone comes forth and swears that they served with him and remember seeing him in uniform, the press is going to say "You can't possibly remember that. It happened thirty years ago."

If so, I can't understand why the White House doesn't announce it loudly and clearly for all to know ? I'd expect such an announcement at this time, and possibly a 'round of talk shows' by the witnesses, would squash the matter before it acquires 'legs'.

Darn, I thought it was going to be a photo of President Bush in uniform... :)
