[history]
February 10, 2004 -- Saudi authorities have arrested a fighter pilot under suspicion of planning to crash a jet in Israel in a Sept. 11-style terror attack, it was reported yesterday.
The pilot had allegedly been recruited by al Qaeda to carry out the homicide mission against an undisclosed target, Israeli TV reported. Saudi investigators are rounding up other people who may have been involved in the plot, and the investigation is continuing, the report said.

Where can I get a coffee cup and a t-shirt with that logo?
It would look great next to my SoreLoserman items.

20-"Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the purpose of a ground-to-air missile to shoot down planes? What were the missiles capable of before the upgrade? Duck hunting?"
as far as I know they were designed to intercept scud missiles, not planes, though they should be capable to do both.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the purpose of a ground-to-air missile to shoot down planes? What were the missiles capable of before the upgrade?Upgrading the capability, accuracy, anti-spoofing, etc. Making it more capable of shooting down planes, not just making it capable.

If you're referring to the original Patriot, used in the Gulf War, they were designed to down aircraft, adapted to intercept Scuds. The technology has come a long way, much of it developed by the Israelis, for obvious reasons. Still, it's just minutes from Saudi airspace to population centers in Israel.

Maybe they'll televise the beheading.I'm not so sure he'll be beheaded (unless, of course, the FBI or CIA asks to interrogate him).

"I think there has been an exaggeration," Mr. Kerry said when asked whether President Bush has overstated the threat of terrorism. "They are misleading all Americans in a profound way." -John Kerry January 29, 2004. Exaggerated?

That idiotic quote from Kerry will be his undoing. I guarantee it.

The picture of the burning WTC should be shown on TV every day. Sadly, seems many Americans have forgotten this horrific day. So many saying "the economy" is the most important issue. And it is important however, protecting our country from terror attacks is critical. If our homeland is attacked again, we won't have to worry about our economy, it will disappear. Pres Bush is the only leader with the courage to do what it takes to protect the US.

I know for a fact that some Pakistanis have flown for several Arab nations.....
Had dinner once in Islamabad with with several Pakistani Air Force Generals...A little Chinese resturaunt around the corner from the Marriot Hotel..... We recanted flying stories (I'm a pilot)...A couple learned to fly in the US...Dallas Fort Worth area......Funny side note, one General came back to the Hotel later to have a few drinks with me, since the Islamabad Marriot doesn't have a Bar (Islamic rules) the only "wet" places in the city are the hotel rooms (westerner's only) and the embassies. You can order a bottle to the room so he joined me for a couple of Jack Daniels....Most these guy's were schooled in Great Britian or the US and have aquired a taste for western culture...
However, they still hate us and never trust them...
But back to the original issue, all of them flew for other Muslim nations under the host countries flag....
Several flew combat missions against Israel in earlier conflicts...
BTW, the Pakistanis hate Israel....If you import communications gear and/or computer equipment, they will open the box to inspect the that any of the chip sets do not originate in Israel.

Thanks, but my beef was actually with the clumsy writing in the article - I understood what the upgrades were for.

Revised and Extended:
"The potential Saudi threat is taken seriously because:
1) 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudis
2) al Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden is Saudi-born"
3) al Qaeda is primarily Saudi funded
4) al Qaeda's ideology is Wahhabism, the state religion of Saudi Arabia
5) al Qaeda's recruits are first trained in Saudi funded Madrassas world-wide
There is nothing about al Qaeda that is not primarily Saudi. The game is not over until the House of Saud falls.
