NORTH CAROLINA WELCOMES TERRORISTS
2-9-04 | Judson Cox

Posted on 02/09/2004 5:58:05 PM PST by conservativejud

I always thought North Carolina was a conservative state. Sure, we have some fairly large cities, and plenty of liberal universities, but North Carolina is southern. Our state is mostly comprised of small towns that really are like “Mayberry” from the old “Andy Griffith Show.” We go to church, say sir and ma’am and can identify our third cousin twice removed. Our state is home to country musicians such as Lester Flatt, Doc Watson, Charlie Daniels and Randy Travis, and political leaders like Sen. Jesse Helms. Last week, I found out that North Carolina is more liberal than California!

State Senator (and Gubernatorial candidate) Fern Shubert, informed me that North Carolina has issued nearly 400,000 driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants with no social security number! She showed me an article in The New York Times, reporting that, “The D.M.V. in North Carolina, where illegal immigrants from the states on the Eastern seaboard go to get their drivers’ licenses, is aware of its role, said Wayne J. Hurder, North Carolina’s director of driver’s license certification.” (The New York Times, 3/2/2003)

South Carolina’s Attorney General has asked US Attorney General John Ashcroft to require airlines to refuse to accept licenses from NC for boarding planes. Again, Wayne Hurder said, "Our job is not to force compliance with immigration laws." NC issues licenses to anyone possessing an, Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. “The IRS recently sent letters to all 50 governors, asking them to instruct their motor vehicles agencies not to accept the ITINs.” (Washington Times, 9-7-03) The government of North Carolina cares nothing for the laws of our nation, or the security of American citizens.

Given California’s reaction to this issue, Democratic Governor Mike Easley should be quaking in his political boots. However, most North Carolinians are unaware that their state is issuing licenses to illegal immigrants! NC’s news outlets serve as little more than lap dogs for an increasingly corrupt Democratic machine (www.ncgop.org “Corruption Watch”). Their scant coverage is necessitated by the lines of non-English speaking immigrants flooding out of DMV’s all over the state, the incredible boom of the illegal immigrant population and the arrest of three Pakistanis who were trying to use phony ID info to get "valid" NC driver’s licenses.

The controversy finally forced the Governor to, “announce new security measures and procedures that will assist the DMV in preventing driver license fraud.” (Raleigh News & Observer, 12-31-03) However, Wayne Hurder, has clearly stated “the fact that a person is in the United States without the permission of the Department of Homeland Security (formerly INS) is irrelevant as far as North Carolina DMV is concerned, as per NCGS 20-7 and NCGS 4.01.”

Sen. Shubert replied (press release, 1-21-04), “North Carolina law, which cannot be changed by DMV but requires legislative action, permits the use of Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) that are worthless from a security standpoint… Even if DMV changes the documentation accepted to prove residency next month, the law says DMV must permit the issuance of a license even if the applicant has no documentation other than an ITIN provided they swear or affirm an affidavit.”

Most North Carolinians will never see Sen. Shubert’s press release. As a prominent member of the Raleigh, NC press corps explained to Sen. Shubert regarding a related education issue, “We will not cover it, because our readers are not intelligent enough to understand it.” This attitude earned that “journalist” a high paying position in the Easley administration! Hundreds of thousands of illegals register to vote in North Carolina, ensuring that Easley and his Democratic cronies stay in power, while North Carolina’s news outlets turn a colluding eye.

American soldiers are risking their lives in foreign countries to protect our homeland. This is the ultimate slap in the face to our brave men and women who are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice. This is a national security issue; state-issued photo identification provides unrestricted access to most U.S. air and ground transportation systems and entry to public buildings! I urge my readers to learn more about this issue; visit www.forfern.com. If each of my readers will contact their local news outlets, as well as Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and the national newspapers, we can get coverage. Along with the Foundation for Conservative American Values (www.fcav.latest-info.com), I will make every effort to make myself available to be interviewed on this issue; contact me at: conservativejud@yahoo.com

To the fine folks in North Carolina. Are you going to confront this? I sincerely hope so. Those of us with a political voice in Kansas are doing everything we can to stop our PC governor from doing the same thing here. Good luck to all of you!

Hey, if they think the terrorists will vote for higher taxes, the Dems will probably gerrymander districts for them.

California had and has a recall procedure, for times like this.

Does North Carolina? Governor? Legislature? DMV administration?

Heads roll, and laws/regulations can be CHANGED.

During the "Dark Ages" , English monks nailed the skins of Vikings to the doors of monasteries, churches, and castles. They would also hang the skinned bodies on poles near shoreline as a deterrent to others.
I don't know if that's legal anymore but it could be food for thought.
Also, this whole thing with the automatic citizenship simply be birth in American is an inverse Trojan horse.
Finally, hospitals, etc that didn't report illegal aliens should lose government funding.
Just some topics for discussion.

But as a libertarian I should oppose the requirement to give a Social Security number to get a driver's license should I not? I should support a state that allows another number to be used instead right?

Fran Shubert for governor! She is really spunky, sharp with great conservative principles, very sincere, a real straight shooter.

Interesting article but... the rules did change last week as part of the "Operation Stop Fraud" program. Under the new rules, license applicants will need two forms of ID and a document showing that they live in North Carolina.

Unacceptable forms of ID will include expired licenses, individual tax identification numbers and licenses and other identification cards issued by the Mexican government -- including the popular matricula consular, an identity card issued by the government through its consulates.

Approved identification will include valid licenses from other states or Canada, Social Security cards, valid immigration papers and state vehicle registration or title certificates.

NC *Ping*

Let me, or MYkdsmom, or Constitution Day know if you want on or off the NCPing list or if you think you've been accidentally dropped or ....

They expect us to solve this problem, and we know that our corrupt government won't do anything to help a Republican President unless he promises them a favor of some sort...

“The IRS recently sent letters to all 50 governors, asking them to instruct their motor vehicles agencies not to accept the ITINs.”

I am living in North Carolina, and the only hope I see is to get the Feds to freeze all federal money headed to NC for any purpose till the law is changed and the DMV complies.

If the Feds stopped the money I think that would take about 2 hours.

North Carolina - El Norte Carolina

With the Blue Ridge mountains to the west and the beaches of the Outer Banks to the east, North Carolina has suddenly become The Destination for new Latino immigrants. Since the last census, the Triangle (and Raleigh’s Wake County in particular) has experienced a nearly 500 percent increase in its Hispanic population of mostly Mexicans. It started with the economic boom of the ’90s and huge demands for unskilled labor in the construction, poultry and meat-processing, and hospitality industries. That’s transforming what used to be a black-white duopoly into an increasingly diverse area. Of the Triangle’s 1,031,600 residents, about 5 percent are Hispanic. That sounds tiny, but the area’s receiving 10,000 new arrivals annually.

We have no power until a regular election, and then only the "corrupt ones" or the "party chosen one" (the party power- group never chooses a candidate with strength or a moral backbone) can raise any money.

For instance, Fern is running for Governor, but she has no hope against the money boys who "know how to play the game" (the same game that has been played for a century). She has only raised $10K dollars.

They are already being sued, and the rules change will not stand up in court, unless they make some legislative changes.

Yeah, but a lot of them are "going native". They're becoming Evangelicals and Pentacostals. They have bumper stickers that say "Yo (heart) Jesus." Of course, I have no way of knowing, just like anybody else, which Hispanics are illegal and which are not, just by looking at them.

I'm glad they changed that DMV rule, though. I don't think an illegal with a driver's license is any "safer" than one without a license. (That was one of the arguments the activists used to try to prevent the rule change. That the highways would be safer if we gave driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.)
