Rosie Sheds Tears As 'Taboo' Goes Dark
Show Closes After Dismal Ticket Sales, Reviews
POSTED: 1:24 PM EST February 9, 2004
UPDATED: 2:08 PM EST February 9, 2004
Rosie O'Donnell wiped tears away from her face minutes after the final performance of the Broadway musical "Taboo" over the weekend.
The $10 million production was funded entirely by O'Donnell. It told the story of gender-bending pop star Boy George, but folded after three months of mediocre ticket sales and negative reviews.
Fans shouted "Thank you, Rosie!" and held playbills and posters for her to sign.
The former talk show host vowed that someday the show would return.

No, Rosie, don't cry! You'll give in to the fascist male chauvanist pigs! Show them you don't cry like a helpless housewife!

All the liberal freaks may make a fuss and rave about it, and although they make a lot of noise and get lots of media attention, they still are few in number.

Rosie's an idiot. Boy George is an idiot.

You know, if this piece of pop culture sewage couldn't make it in one of the epicenters of societal freakishness, it must have really sucked (no pun intended).

There's a Krispy Kreme donut for every broken heart on Broadway. (A case or two in Rosie's case).

Chin up, Rosie. You could always try starting a magazine.

I hear the next remake of the "Producers" will substitute "Springtime for Hitler" with "Taboo".
In a departure from the orignal, Bialystock and Bloom will walk away millionaires after the play closes during the second act.

But the reason why she was crying was because she had to skip a few meals to finance it.

The former talk show host vowed that someday the show would return. Good, hope you blow another $10 million. The less money you have, the less chance "show bidness" people will pay any attention to you.

Funny stuff though! The thought that Janet Jackson's nipple stretching apparatus and boob drew more audience in one second than Rosie's dopey exploit drew in six months.
