Pelosi PAC Hit With $21K Fine By Brody Mullins Roll Call Staff February 9, 2004
A controversial fundraising committee run by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was slapped with a $21,000 fine by the Federal Election Commission for enabling Pelosi to funnel more than $100,000 in illegal contributions to Democratic candidates in late 2002 as she was vying to become Democratic leader.

These fines are a joke. The fine should be the same amount as the illegal contribution in order to make things like this stop.

That's just what I was thinking. Why didn't they fine her $121K to thwart any future illegalities? Sheesh.

I'm not sure whether they are helpmates or not. Hillary may hate having another woman sharing power. It's hard to tell. For all I know, Hillary may have been instrumental in helping set this up to muddy Pelosi. And then again, may not.

You're right. A 20% cost of doing business. If only the private sector could work on those margins....

I doubt Hillary set this up. She needs California and might need Pelosi to run as her VP because the only male VP candidate I can see kissing her butt is Clark.

I just love Google. Campaignlegalcenter.org reprinted a Roll Call article in October, 2002. Here is a partial answer regarding contributors:
Of the contributions Team Majority reported to the FEC in the last quarter, five of them - for $5,000 each - came from donors who had already contributed the maximum to PAC to the Future. Those donors included close Pelosi allies William Hambrecht and his wife, Sally, as well as George Zimmer, the CEO of The Men's Wearhouse.

Congress wrote the law that enables them to collect money through one PAC and distribute it to other candidates, thus effectively thwarting to a certain extent any so-called campaign finance laws. Again, they wrote the law themselves. In-your-face corruption, which Pelosi apparenly used to get herself elected to a leadership position.
Bribery will never be eliminated from politics, because it works.

Thank You for the 2PAC Pelosi Ping.. This warms the cockles of my heart, immensely. :-]
Now let's see if the FEC 86'es the 527s that the demRats are using to skirt campaign finance reform changes.

The story would be headline news if the media really isn't as biased as we know it is. They've been sticking her in our faces, pretending she's somebody important for ages...before her, how many people knew who the House Minority leader was? How many people know who the House minority leader is NOW??
SO...the media forced her face upon us as often as they could during non-stories...but now she's been caught funneling illegal campaign donations they ignore it.
Nope, no bias there.

Well, let's give it a day. Frankly, no conservative websites or talk shows have picked up on this either.

Still came out with over $79,000 ahead. Breaking laws like this seems to be profitable.
