"By reputation, the President was a very avid and skillful poker player when he was an MBA student. One of the secrets of a successful poker player is to encourage your opponent to bet a lot of chips on a losing hand. This is a pattern of behavior one sees repeatedly in George W. Bushs political career. He is not one to loudly proclaim his strengths at the beginning of a campaign. Instead, he bides his time, does not respond forcefully, a least at first, to critiques from his enemies, no matter how loud and annoying they get. If anything, this apparent passivity only goads them into making their case more emphatically. This point cannot be made strongly enough.

...but asked or stated in such a way as to cast doubt and negative light on the President and try to put him on the defensive. Thanks for articulating my feelings.... Russert didn't say one positive thing. Not ONE. I thought his interview was terrible, almost disrespectful, and the President did a great job with his sincere answers. Yes, it was Russert's was of asking the Questions. He wasn't asking questions it was he was TELLING us how things were... they the Pres had to defend himself. He had the Pres on the defense the entire time... time and again. I thought it was an AWFUL job done by Russert, and a GREAT response given by our President under terrible conditions..... and Russert was in the White House.

Interview over here. IMO the President did well.
Whether or not we disagree with certain views or policies, there is no doubt that this President is trying his best to be the best leader he can be to America. I happen to believe his best is pretty darned good.

Bush supporter or not, he is the President, not 'George'. Some of his supporters may refer to him affectionately as 'W' or 'Dubya', but we mean no disrespect. Do you?

Let's see, Tony Blair has done a couple of unannounced visits as I recall, of course Bush did the Thanksgiving visit, the Dutch PM Balkenende did one, and now Prince Charles. These visits must be doing some real good on the ground with the people who are doing the tough work.

"She asked him who that tall man in middle was. Of course, it was John Kerry. She said, he looks presidential. How dumb is that?"I heard a report a couple of weeks ago that almost every person to become President has been the tallest person.

Yep, you'll never see Geneva Overholser quitting over Tim Russert being honored.
Were there any light moments in this interview? It came off as incredibly heavy and dark to me.
To: Gracey
Yeah, but Russert is their best. They took their best shot at President Bush, and they wiffed.
Smooth sailing. He doesnt have to talk to them anymore. They had their chance, they blew it. Bush will talk to the American people from now on, and the Media can pound sand.

I agree with Rush, Russert does a fair interviewThe interview sucked. It was confined to two democrat talking points. WMD in Iraq and President Bush's NAtional Guard service.
A tough and fair interview would have asked for positions on illegal immigration, abortion, homosexual "marriage" and the judiciary.
All front and center in todays America and all ignored. Why?

Gore was taller than Bush wasn't he?
