The economy's not bad, but other than that I agree with your assessment. For many people, the economy has been very good for them. We've been dealing with the shakeout from a corrupt, Clintonian bubble economy and the war. The tax cuts President Bush got through Congress have made the difference in softening the recession and in sustaining the recovery.

Keeping the heat on international terrorism and the their state sponsors has kept this country safe from attack (so far) and allowed us to live our lives in peace and go about our business. People do recognize that. Some segments of the economy are going through changes that hurt some people, but overall it's alot better than it would have been without the tax cuts.

People need to see more of both GW and Cheney, because when they are not out as often, that alone is what looks bad. GW did a terrific job here with Russert.

Cheney is out giving speeches all the time. The news media is just not covering him. They are just covering the ugly horseface Kerry. And when the Dana Milbanks of the world criticize President Bush and say his credibility is fading and stuff like that, he is just saying what he hopes people will believe, not truth. The news media is against President Bush and will do everything to see Kerry elected. Hide and watch. Actually I will not hide and watch. I will help to do something about getting President Bush re-elected!

President Bush talks the way he talks. So, maybe he's "plainspoken" --- and the "elite" would "rahthah" he spoke like them: phony, affected speech, pretentious, professorial oratory.

The idiots over at DU were more concerned with analyzing his speech patterns and grammatic structure than they were in what he had to say.

Brit Hume has saved my sanity the last few days. Clearly he heard and saw the same Kay and Tenet presentations we freepers saw, and not the distortions in the media.

In fact, he has pointedly said the media is giving only a portion of the story.

Just now on Fox Eric Shawn said coming up they'll talk about the Kay report and how he said no stockpiles found, BUT that Iraq was more dangerous than previously known. Shawn asks: Is that being ignored by the media?

Coming up on Fox, the obvious answer to that question.

Tough interview? I have no problem with that. What I can't stand is that every question and every comment coming from Mr. Russert is biased.

And, not just biased, but asked or stated in such a way as to cast doubt and negative light on the President and try to put him on the defensive.

Well, the press certainly should be giving more coverage when our nation's VP gives a speech. Thank you for mentioning he is out and about.

The stammering on Bush's part cannot be helped. It really is an actual brain process that causes this. It's a type of speech impediment, I think, because my father suffered from it and I do somewhat. I know exactly what I want to say but have difficulty at certain times in expressing it. People look at me like I'm a dummie. Its very frustrating. People judge this as a lack of intelligence but I know otherwise. Therefore, I judge people by what they say rather than how they say it.

That "Edwards=Cute" is worrisome.

Another woman's point of view.

First, I don't really think he's cute. However, I will defer to many who do.

In today's world cute doesn't get you elected IMO. I think women want their leader to be a protector not a cutie who looks as though he needs protecting.

We are now known as Security Moms not Soccer Moms.

:-} Yup, he talks like I do.

True, he may not be a "polished" speaker, but I think he comes across as an honest speaker.

Yes, unlike Kerry who speaks in that monotone candence that drive me crazy.

I read a WSJ article recently by someone who knew Bush at Yale, and he said that W was great at remembering everyone's name and something about the person. He impressed everyone in his fraternity by knowing all the names of all 40-odd people in his pledge class while no one else could.

That surprised me, in the sense that we've heard that Clinton has the same ability, and we think of them as being distinctly different kinds of people. But you would expect it in Clinton, since he's always on the make.

It's a good trait for a politican to have, because as someone has said, you shouldn't enter politics if you can't call up 100 people and ask them for money, and get them to do the same for you.

So if Bush can't remember Kerry, I'd believe him.

Of course, maybe the President just tried to put the encounter out of his mind.
