Russert and the rest do not understand that breaking the back of the current middle east model which has been a huge failure to the arabs and the world, is critical if the WOT is to succeed.
Saddams willingness to support terrorists and defy America was enough of a threat to the US to justify US action.
Saddam helped keep the Arabs stirred up.
A free Iraq with do much to quell radical islam.
Add a Free Afghanistan and Free Turkey...Iran will fall next and Saudi Arabia.
GW has a vision that does not include the old despots.

Edwards needs someone to give him a balloon. He always looks like he should be in short pants, looking up at the nice clown and asking if he can have a balloon, please, mister clown?

How do you respond to critics who say that we brought the nation to war in false pretenses?
I based my decision on the best intelligence that I had, in the context of the war on terror--we were attacked and every threat had to be judged in the context of the war on terror.
I made the decision to take our case to the International community. We knew he was paying for suicide bombers and funding terrorist groups.
Let me finish--this is a vital question.
We expected to find weapons. David Kay has found the capacity to make weapons. The weapons could have been transported to another country, or destroyed, and we will find out.
Let me finish here.
But David Kay did find out that SH had the capacity and ability to make weapons--he was a dangerous man in a dangerous part of the world.
I don't think America could stand by and hope for the best from a madman. When we see a threat, we deal with those threats before they become imminent. It's too late when they become imminent.

"Kerry should be asked to name one thing that he has done since 1970 that would give us confidence that the defense of this country is his primary goal."
Precisely. He simply blathers on ad nauseum about his past "service" in Vietnam. He would do well to listen to Jesus: "After you have done everything you are commanded to do, say to yourselves 'We are unworthy servants. We have only done our duty.'"
All Kerry has to offer is a promise to "do better" than Bush. He seeks credibility as a True Soldier from his stint in an unpopular war which he, upon returning (natch for blowhards like him!), protested.
Not much to offer when contrasted with Bush who has DEMONSTRATED IN THE HERE AND NOW the ability to govern and BE Commander-in-Chief.
Kerry is a bad pony.

I respectfully disagree with you. I think he did a marvelous job. He did stammer a little but I think the more important point is that he looked confident and strong.

I am absolutely convinced that Peter Jennings deliberately asked the 'deserter' question of General Clark during the debate.
He gave the issue credibility and publicity.....which was his intention from the start.

Agreed. Russert had to ask all these questions. What bothers me is his quasi-liberal mindset ie: "We've got a big problem in Iraq.", or adding credence to this bogus AWOL charge which has already been settled, even by the NYT for God's sakes.

I asked:
Do they get into the illegals/border policy/amnesty Q&A?
You replied:
Not unless they did in the first 15 minutes, that's what I missed....It wasn't covered in the first 15 minutes.
I really needed some input from Bush on these very important issues RE the Illegals.
So I can only assume that the Bush Amnesty Plan is full-speed ahead. If not, Bush would have made sure he retracted his amnesty plan and also WHY he did so.
Sad, very disappointing. Bush's Amnesty Plan is ruinous federal policy.

I'm actually looking forward to America getting a megadose of Kerry coverage. I don't think they'll want to see or hear Botox boy on their TV screens for 4 years. I think that's at least a small factor in Gore's demise...Who could look or listen to him for more than 5-10 seconds at a time.
